[This will appear eventually in gnu.announce, but in the meantime
perhaps it will be of interest here, since it's written in C++.]
I am happy to announce the release of GNU groff, version 0.3. This is
a beta-test release; you should only use it if you wish to help test
it.
Groff is GNU troff and related programs. Included in this release are
implementations of troff, pic, eqn and tbl -- these are intended to be
fairly compatible with their DWB 2.0 namesakes, but provide many
additional features -- a PostScript driver, a driver that produces TeX
dvi format, a driver for typewriter-like output devices, an enhanced
version of the X11R4 xditview previewer, an implementation of the man
macros and a modified version of the Berkeley me macros. The pic
provides support for TeX similar to tpic.
Groff is written in C++, so you will need g++ or some other C++
compiler that implements C++ version 2.0
Groff is available for ftp from prep.ai.mit.edu in the directory
/u/emacs. Get groff-0.3.tar.Z (approximately 710k), and
groff.diff-0.3-0.3.1 (approximately 5k).
Bugs should be reported to bug-...@prep.ai.mit.edu.
