Blocks don't seem to work from PhoneGap

I'm trying to use blocks inside of PhoneGap. However, when I try to
even create a block like so:
NSLog(@"%@", ^{return @"TEST";});
my application dies and I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to change some configuration
variable to get blocks working?
