As Richard said, we saw this Prairie Falcon perched for a long time on huge power pole #199 at Walden Ponds near Boulder Creek on Jan 6!

Very nice pic. I got lucky and was aiming my camera at the bird as it took off. I got a nice shot of the dark axillaries (dirty armpits - wingpits?).
