Hi,

I am wondering if this is the so called pectic gel.

This carboy has dropped totally clear and the cider is pretty close from dryness.

Normally, when my ciders drop clear, I just see a layer of compact dead yeast in the bottom but this time, it is a bit different.... it is cloudy and it doesn't seem to be affectd by gravity that much...

This is one of my only carboy that wasn't treated with pectic enzyme this year...

 That do you think?

Louis

Hard to say, Louis. The photo isn't exactly clear...
In any case, it doesn't seem to occupy a large part of the carboy - pectic gels often take half of the volume.

Hi Claude,

Thanks for your answer, it is apreciated.

It is true, the picture isn't that clear...

It does not occupy a lot of space in the carboy, so it is more about understanding what is happening in my carboy that loosing too much of it....

It's strange, it doesn't seem like a gel but it is hazy and kind of look like pectin or one of its by-product.

Louis
