Just wondering if a teacher can connect to a live Zoom session with their class on two devices at the same time, ie laptop and ipad, and switch between the devices during the session? This is to facilitate our SET teachers using the ipad to do demonstrations - write sums, manipulate materials, etc.

All wisdom welcome!

Kind regards,

Máire

You would need to join zoom as two participants using two accounts.
I think there is a dual screen setting but haven't tried it.
Wouldn't screen share do the trick?

There's an option in zoom screen sharing to add an ipad/iphone via a cable. That might be the easiest way to do that. You'd need to have a look at the zoom instructions to send it it's a viable option for you: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115003341686-Share-an-iOS-Device-Screen-Using-a-Cable?mobile_site=true

Yes, in screen sharing one of the options should be a whiteboard which should meet the needs outlined by Maire.
I presume you can join from 2 devices, just logging in from 2nd device? You'll be in the meeting twice, but I think on basic package only one of you (!) will be host unless you pass over hosting to your other self and back again!

One as host but you can allow participant to share and they become speaker.
It can definitely be done with some fettling.
And looking at yourself twice.
(Hiding yourself on yourself is possible too) a great setting.

I've done it with no issues.
Just join as presenter on your laptop,
Then Join with the link or from your Teams app on your second device (I use iPad but I hear phone works fine too).
It should as if you want to switch the ipad (2nd device) as being presenter or staying as attendee.
Then you can select the 2nd device as having presenter rights.

There's an option to turn off annotations for anyone except the person sharing,

Scroll down to the bottom where it says annotation settings. We've had similar issues with students feeling obliged to show their knowledge of biology to teachers outside that subject.
