Maybe this is a roundabout way of screen recording, but it works to make a tutorial video - start a Zoom meeting, don't invite anyone, screen share (with yourself effectively!) then record yourself going through whatever process you want to demonstrate. Stop recording at end and Zoom will automatically create a video (MP 4) of your demo - you'll find it your Zoom folder (by default a sub folder of Documents) along with an audio version as well and a tiny M3U file as well (not sure what this does!).
Advantage - no extra screen recording necessary, no issues about working out which area of screen to record and how.
Is there a down side?
Anyone else try this and have more tips?

Hi Brendan,

Roundabout? Whatever works best for you is the correct way. I sometimes feel people are always looking for the “correct” answer - while many times the answer is whatever they know or suits their workflow best.

Just to let you know, an M3U file is a bit like a playlist file. Software such as iTunes, VLC, etc. can use this file to build a playlist of your recordings. Generally it isn’t needed and you can delete it.

Make sure however that your audio and video files are working first by moving them out of the Zoom folder and testing from your desktop.

Many thanks!

Chris
