Reading the 3 steps of integrating a smart on fhir application: https://code.cerner.com/ehr-api

In the 2nd step, it mentioned:
"Due to high demand, at this time Cerner is limiting our developer engagements to those developers who are actively working with a Cerner client to beta test their app"

How do we get a hospital beta test a smart on fhir application, before the app is approved, reviewed, and listed on Cerner App Gallery?

This is something you will need to handle on your own. So, you would work with your contacts at healthcare organizations and have them agree to use your app.

Is there any documentation on what will be required from the facility to test this?  We currently have several mutual clients and I have a couple in mind I would like to test the integration with but I know their first question is going to be what resources will you need from my staff?  What is the best way to answer that question?  Obviously, we want to minimize the work effort on the facility but need their approval to test the app in their environment.

Thank you,
Marshall

Hi, Marshall!

Client will need a live connection to Ignite API, which should be available at a large portion of our clients in the coming months as it is a required part of MU3 attestation.  Once the API connection is in place, connecting your application is primarily done by Cerner resources.  Client resources may be necessary to validate some concept mappings in cause you have a very sophisticated application and, of course, they will need to spend some time reviewing your app and providing you feedback.

Before we can provision you for access to the client domains, we will need to come to some level of understanding of your app functionality and business terms.  You can engage our business team here using the form [1] linked from our program website [2].

Thanks,

Very good thank you.  I will move forward with those forms as soon as I have agreement from one of our current customers.

Thank you,
Marshall

Hi,

So what are the exact steps that we need to take to?

1) I create an application that's tested against cerner sandbox
2) I then reach out to hospitals who use cerner
3) Hospital agrees to partner and test - how are they going to test within their cerner ehr? Do the hospitals have to reach out to cerner to set up some testing harness?
4) Hospital likes my product
5) Then I submit the form http://cernermarketing.wufoo.com/forms/z352gae0xcax6t/ to tell cerner about my app for approval

are the above steps correct? And can you answer my question in 3)

At a high level, these are the steps you have to take in some sequence.  I think you should be able to demonstrate your app and articulate its value to gauge client interest without having it fully integrated into the EMR.  I would also say that you should get in touch with Cerner business team sooner rather than later.  Once you enter into our development program, we have additional tools to facilitate things like app demos without getting that app fully connected to a client domain.

Yegor,

Thanks for your reponse thus far. They are very helpful.
I and my colleagues have completed steps 1-5 outlined above with a very successful pilot. It's been 10 days since we submited the application at <http://cernermarketing.wufoo.com/forms/z352gae0xcax6t/>, and no response from Cerner so far. Our clients are starting to express concerns. Is there any way for us to check on the status of that application to see where we are? Any input would be appreciataed.

Thank you.

Closing the loop on public conversation.  We are now working through direct channel to set up an introductory call with Cerner business dev team.
