Hi,

I'm trying to search for patients based on a variety of criteria.

I believe this should return patients who have an identifier with a value of 10000424 (any identifier).  I get back 5 patients, but only 2 of those patients have matching identifiers.

Also, I'm trying to search for patients with an MRN identifier.  I get back 25 patients, some of which don't have a MR number, only a social security number.

Is this an issue with the sandbox?

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Right now, our patient search (on all fields) is fuzzy. It looks at a few different fields, does "sound-alike" checks, and typical typo mistakes. It's not currently intended to do exact-match checks. We are looking at switching this around in future implementations, but we also want to keep the fuzzy search capability to help enable user workflows where a practitioner or registration desk attendant may be trying to search for a patient.

We have updated the documentation on fhir.cerner.com to reflect this: http://fhir.cerner.com/may2015/patient/ but it's a note that may be easy to miss right now.

Regards,
Jenni
