In http://cds-hooks.org/#medication-prescribe, it says: "The set of proposed medication prescriptions".  I take this to mean more than 1 MedicationPrescription can be sent.  Is this true?  For example, if triggering this hook when new prescriptions are about to be signed, there may be more than 1 prescription that is in the scratchpad awaiting signing.

Thanks,
Ken

P.S. Shouldn't this be MedicationOrder instead of MedicationPrescription if at least FHIR STU2 is being used? (e.g., the example at http://demo.cds-hooks.org uses MedicationOrder).  Perhaps related -- is there an assumed or required FHIR version or profiles to use with CDS Hooks?  E.g., STU2 with USCore FHIR profiles?

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the feedback and questions!

Great question. In our prototype implementations, we've only ever implemented a single medication prescription. I agree that this should support multiple prescriptions. I've logged an issue for this: https://github.com/cds-hooks/docs/issues/28

There isn't today. This relates to an outstanding issue around handling FHIR versions: https://github.com/cds-hooks/docs/issues/3

Thanks Kevin.

To verify – is it okay to use MedicationOrder instead of MedicationPrescription for the context of medication-prescribe?

Thanks,

Ken

Yes, that's okay. At the time when that documentation was written the May 2015 DSTU2 ballot was the most recent FHIR version. However, since then we switched to DSTU2 final. We had updated the documentation almost everywhere...it looks like you found two places where we missed.

I've fixed those two typos and the documentation is now consistent here:

Thanks!
Kevin
