Hi,
I am Saswat Raj, an avid coder and a python enthusiast.I am a third year CSE student at IIT Patna. The coolest thing that drove me into applying for this was it's immense utility.I've worked on a lot of projects using a wide variety of languages and tools.I am a quick learner when it comes to programming and as you can see in my repos i done a lot of work on Python.I've built cross platform python UI's with Tkinter and Tk,PyGtk and have also tried my hands on PySide..Here are certains links to my github account  and linked in account where you can know more about the projects that i have worked on.

For more details about my work here's my personal website :

I looked into a lot of translation services provided and came up with the following results.Google api has been changed from free to paid version so using it will incur costs.Bing on the other hand does have a REST api but with less documentation.Other free providers present include MyMemory services which have a SOAP API and yandex which requires an API key.Kindly let me know about your thoughts on this considering long term use of these tools in the toolkit.

That's about the kind of experience we are looking for :-)

Regarding Google API - there may be ways to access it freely. For example, I was able to access it through YQL (Yahoo Query Language), here is an example:

MyMemory and Yandex can also be used, it's OK for them to require an API key, you can sign up to get one. The idea is to enable as many translation APIs in the tool.

Thanks..the YQL works and can be used.Could you guide me through the steps for applying for working on this project alongside you.

You need to create a proposal and submit it to google. Please check out GSoC 2014 page for timelines and process.

We also have some guidance on how to write a proposal for our projects available here: https://github.com/BuildmLearn/BuildmLearn-Toolkit/wiki/Guidance-for-Students

Hope it helps,
Pankaj.

I have built a rough proposal for GSOC according to the rules and guidelines. Can I email it to you so that you can have a look and verify if the points mentioned are correct and in the viewpoint of this project . If so who should i send it to ?
