Hi,

Due to the well reported automatic switch of source from HDD to SD, I have 97 FLAC (~ 2GB) music tracks on my SD card which I want to transfer to HDD with the rest of my library. I have tried to copy these to USB C with the aim of then importing them to the HDD. However, nothing happens when I select 'Copy SD Music' in the Maintenance menu. I have tried a (formatted) 8GB memory stick, the portable HDD I use to back-up my B2 and even an old (large format) SD card in a card reader (specified in the menu for some reason) in USB C but nothing happens in each case. Any suggestions on how I can transfer the music or, failing that, delete it and re-install the particular tracks on the HDD? What would be the impact of leaving on the internal SD card?

Thanks.

I have not done this, but in your situation this is what I would do:

Settings > Maintenance > Use SD
When the B2 reboots, check to make sure that the display says Source: SD.  If it says HDD, repeat the Use SD command until success.
USB Menu > Export to C
Plug USB stick into your computer and verify that you got what you expect.
Settings > Maintenance > Use HDD
Again, make sure after reboot the display reports Source: HDD
USB Menu > Import USB C

I'd expect that should get the job done.

Thanks very much, Daniel.

Works perfectly! , Don't know why I didn't think of this option in the various things I tried. Surprisingly, there were 117 tracks, even though the B2 SD card still says 97.

Like other people, I had an initial panic thinking that the HDD had crashed. The switch to SD from HDD happened during the upload of 10 CDs, with the first 3 going to HDD and the remaining 7 to SD.

All the best.

Hi NewAgePensioner,

Glad to hear you got your music transferred from the SD Card. I suggest you now do a web upgrade as this should prevent this happening (switching to SD Card) again.

The SD Card holds the operating software and some settings such as WiFi network name and password. I'll need to check with Martin if having the card full of music will cause any issues.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your response. I have upgraded to March 11 software. I don't think I'd done this before the first problem but had before I repeated the issue yesterday.

The B2 information lists the capacity for music files on the SD card and I assume that 2-3GB will be unlikely to cause a problem.

PS I also experienced my B2 stalling at the end of a track and during compression yesterday. Not too much of a problem for me but I'll see how things go before taking any action posted on the forum.
