TripAdvisor’s growing Research team seeks an experienced researcher to work directly on projects that impact the company’s key product initiatives.

The Research team partners with the TripAdvisor Experiences product team to deliver impactful research insights. Research projects range from exploratory to evaluative, from surveys to usability testing.

For this position, we are looking for a qualitative researcher with 2-4 years of applied research experience in a professional setting. Responsibilities include: conducting research studies (primarily usability studies, surveys, and click-tests/other fast forms of user feedback), analyzing data, and reporting/sharing findings in clear and compelling ways.

The right candidate will be: experienced in qualitative methods such as in-depth interviewing and usability testing, experienced with designing surveys and basic survey analysis, passionate about research and travel, comfortable in a fast-moving organization, and excited to collaborate with various research partners.

Specific Responsibilities Include
  • Design and conduct qualitative studies (unmoderated and moderated usability studies, click-tests etc.), analyze data, and report findings and actionable insights
  • Design and field surveys, analyze data, and report findings
  • Maintain ongoing research initiatives including projects with external research vendors
  • Communicate research findings internally in clear and compelling ways
  • Create experience maps, journey maps, and other visual aids to communicate research findings
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product marketing, and product management


Hiring Requirements
  • Minimum BA/BS degree in psychology, communication, statistics or other related field
  • Advanced degree in HCI or other behavioral or social sciences desired
  • 2-4 years of professional user research experience
  • Extensive experience with qualitative research methods
  • Understanding of quantitative research methods (e.g. surveying) and basic statistics
  • Detail-oriented yet able to see the big picture and identify actionable insights from research
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to present clear results in both Excel and PowerPoint outputs
  • Ability to ask, and answer, meaningful and impactful questions
  • Clear communicator
