Job description

Sonos is seeking an experienced voice UX designer to join our design team. In this role, you’ll focus on the design and development of simple and delightful voice experiences for Sonos smart speakers. Driving and executing against the roadmap you’ll work with colleagues from Sonos design, research, product management,  and software development, as well as teams from our strategic voice service partners, to create strategies, share product visions and build compelling user experiences from concept to final product.

What You’ll Do:

You’re an experienced and talented UX designer with a portfolio of engaging consumer products. You bring a deep understanding of voice UX paradigms and are fascinated by the compelling overlap of voice control, physical products, and rich content. You have the interest and aptitude to grasp the underlying architecture of a complex system and translate it into simple and engaging user experiences. You prototype, test, and refine your ideas in innovative ways and constantly engage your partners in the process. You execute with relentless attention to detail, but can also work strategically and identify long term goals. You are a system thinker, adept at making products that work cohesively across multiple platforms. Through your strong communication abilities, you consistently ensure there is alignment across all disciplines and amongst all partners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, test, refine and document compelling voice experiences for Sonos smart speakers
  • Work closely with Sonos cross-functional teams including product managers and software
  • Work closely with external voice service partners
  • Advocate for Sonos users as you strive to make the right product
  • Travel to other Sonos offices, up to 10% of time, and travel to partner locations as needed

Skills You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, such as user experience design, user interface design, industrial design, graphic design
  • 5 years of experience in user experience design and/or user interface design
  • Extensive experience in the user experience design, including voice UI and mobile applications.
  • Proven success designing products that are both pleasurable and easy to use
  • Rich experience in sharing design directions and experience visions with stakeholders and clients
  • Ability to work within time and technical constraints while delivering outstanding user experiences
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in cross-functional teams
  • Deep experience working with software engineers in the Agile process
  • Aptitude for taking input from multiple sources and synthesizing it into coherent designs
  • A current portfolio available for viewing
