Job description

NetApp’s OnCommand Insight (OCI) is an industry leading open platform application for both on-premises and hybrid cloud data center management. OCI enables the world’s largest enterprises and organizations to simplify their interaction with the machine-generated data across their complex data centers, private and public clouds.

We are building out a UX practice within the OnCommand Insight Team and are seeking a talented and passionate Senior UX Designer. In this role, you, the product team and engineering will partner to solve complex UX problems of visualizing and interacting with massive amounts of data to deliver intelligent operational management, data analytics, and business insights. Responsibilities:

  • Use analytical thinking to understand complex user problems and requirements
  • Create intuitive, efficient, and delightful experience for enterprise data center users by incorporating user requirements, user and field feedback, metrics, and usability findings
  • Create appropriate level of prototypes and mockups to demonstrate UX design solutions to various levels of stakeholders
  • Deliver design specs to the development team for each sprint
  • Contribute to design system by incorporating modern UX design patterns
  • Develop and nurture relationships across teams and disciplines

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience as an UX designer, or related occupation, producing exceptional user experiences for data and visualization rich web applications
  • An online portfolio demonstrating these capabilities
  • Knowledge of latest interaction patterns for web, user-centered design process, design principles and techniques
  • Familiarity with design systems such as Google Material & SalesForce Lightning
  • Experience using Axure, Sketch and Invision to create low to high fidelity prototypes and mockups
  • Proven track record of success working collaboratively with other UX designers, product managers, and developers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong design thinking, human centered design skills with expertise in user-centric design processes and execution
  • Demonstrable experience with complex and modern web designs with the ability to create meaningful and delightful experience
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a strong rationale for design decisions
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to lead ideation sessions
  • Ability to balance needs of concurrent projects and work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong influencing, negotiation and collaboration skills
  • Experience with information design, large amounts of tabular data and data visualizations
  • Working knowledge of current web based technologies and frameworks (e.g. HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, Angular) to inform design decisions
  • Experience of working closely with developers in Agile development process

Additional Qualifications

  • Solid user research skills including understanding user requirements and gathering user feedback
  • Ability to moderate usability tests, conduct user interviews, organize surveys, as well as lightweight usability testing methods
  • Help the teams interpret and understand user feedback, and provide input to inform design decisions based on that feedback
