Would you like to develop rapid prototypes for a digital interface for cutting-edge diabetes medical devices? Have we got the job for you. Our growing UX Team at Insulet is looking to hire a UX Prototyper.

Apply online, or email smercer at insulet dot com.

Position Summary

Are you passionate about user experience design?

Do you have mobile (Android and/or iOS) design experience?

Would you like to shape the experience of millions of patients and healthcare providers and become part of the revolutionary diabetes management solution space?

If so, we at Insulet Corporation want to work with you! We are a highly experienced user experience group tackling the world’s growing pediatric and adult diabetes problem space, designing the easy to use and life-changing OmniPod product and other related solutions.

Insulet Corporation, located in Billerica, MA, is seeking a superstar UX / UI Design Prototyper to join our growing team in the suburb of Boston (Billerica, MA).  You will be working with an amazing group of researchers, designers and technical writers, creating the next generation digital experiences for children and adults managing type 1 and type 2 diabetes among other segments.

We are looking for a hybrid designer / developer to help us prototype new Insulet experiences and improve existing ones. As a member of the UX Design Research & Strategy group, you’ll be continually prototyping and finding new ways to empower patients, healthcare professionals and providers everywhere.

The primary challenge for this role is being capable of thinking like an engineer and think like a designer at the same time. It goes beyond just being a designer that knows how to prototype.  You will be working extremely closely with our designers and researchers on: mobile user interfaces, interaction design models, user experience, usability, UI design patterns, frameworks, etc.

In this role, you will use your strong visual and interaction design understanding to create the ultimate mobile-friendly, highly responsive user interfaces for Android and iOS smartphones: including but not limited to overall navigation, look and feel, UI components, style guide, design patterns and setting overall design direction for Insulet’s award-winning OmniPod products and other drug delivery solutions.

We’re looking for someone who wants to use design to change the face of diabetes; someone who can innovate and translate a high-level vision into compelling digital experiences. If you are a creative thinker and team player with experience delivering world-class look and feel for mobile user experiences, we want you.

Responsibilities

  • Build rapid prototyping into our user experience process by building highly responsive mobile digital products and applications that the team can utilize for user research activities as well as stakeholder alignment – prototypes that ultimately engage and delight the end user.
  • Partner with user researchers, designers and other stakeholders to develop and visually polish hi-fidelity mobile interfaces.
  • Participate in user testing to gain a better understanding of end-user needs.
  • Successfully present and participate in product and design discussions within cross functional product team meetings to elicit constructive feedback.

Education and Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience designing for mobile and high technology-centered companies; preferably the medical devices industry.
  • Bachelors or master’s degree in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Visual Design or other related fields.
  • Proficiency at handcrafting HTML, CSS & JavaScript.
  • Extreme proficiency building prototypes with tools such as Framer, Atomic, Mural, InVision or the likes.
  • Experience developing with programming frameworks and libraries such as AngularJS, jQuery, React, Ruby on Rails, etc.
  • Experience with common design tools such as Sketch, Axure, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Fluent in usability standards, design heuristics and responsive design techniques.
  • Familiarity with user-centered research, such as usability testing.
  • Embody the work ethic and personality that thrives in a fast-paced culture with tight deadlines, shifting priorities, and working with super-smart colleagues from numerous departments and locations.
