I read a post that said (even though there isn't a thunderbird plugin for quicksilver) you can still get it to work by setting Thunderbird.app to your default mail client in Mail.app, changing the Email Handler in Quicksilver from Mail.app to Default, then activating quicksilver, typing the name of a contact, tabbing over and selecting the 'email directly compose' option.

Unfortunately I cannot set the Email Handler to Default in Quicksilver.  It always reselects Mail.app.  When I attempt to compose an email it opens a new Composition window in Mail.app with Thunderbird as an attachment.  Any idea for a workaround?

You make it sound like Thunderbird is going to work. All we’re fixing is the weird drop-down behavior. :-)

For Thunderbird to work, someone needs to write a plug-in. All it really needs to do (for the “direct” actions to work) is return the user’s default SMTP settings.
