Hi Antony,

What version are you running?  Can you install the latest build of BigBlueButton 2.2-beta with `bbb-install.sh` and let us know if you still encounter this issue.

Hi,

You need to add some additional parameters to have bbb-install.sh install the HTML5 client.  See

At some point, we're going to make the HTML5 client the default client, but for now the default client installed is the Flash client.  With the above link, you can also install the HTML5 client and then make it default, se

I would like to vouch this report as I am having issues with front camera as well when using BigBlueButton Server 2.2.0-beta3 (840).

I am using Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro running on an Android 8.1.0 and the browser used is Google Chrome.
Here is the screenshot of the error when the front camera is selected: (take note that the default seems to use the rear camera which is odd as IMHO the default should be the front camera)

It's the same when tested on https://test.bigbluebutton.org as seen in the following screenshot:

Also in my testing,  sometimes it takes a lot of retries before eventually, the front camera works.

It is also worthy to note that I tested this against a BigBlueButton Server 2.0.0-RC11 (1672) and the front (only) camera always works as expected.

Thank you and kind regards

Could you guys go to https://webrtchacks.github.io/WebRTC-Camera-Resolution/ and run a quick scan with the both cameras and post the results back (screenshot is fine). It's probably a constraint issue with the dimensions and I think we need to rethink how we're doing the constraint checking. Previously our media selection was very permissive and ended up using very large streams that eat up bandwidth and processing (on the client and server), but most of the time the streams were then shown much smaller. In 2.2 we put in maximum width/height constraints, but I think that's run afoul of some of the browser or OS restrictions.
