Hi Everyone,

We're getting close to the end of the development cycle for BigBlueButton 2.2 (one or two more RC iterations is likely all we need).

The next release will be 2.3 and it primarily focus on
  - removing all remaining flash components (such as bbb-client and bbb-red5)
  - running on Ubuntu 18.04
  - updated versions for node, meteor, mongod, others

To date we've been building 2.2 from the master branch on GitHub.  We've now branched master to

   v2.2.x-release

which will be the future checking for BigBlueButton 2.2.  Going forward, all changes to master will for 2.3.

This will not affect many people, but if your developing on the BigBlueButton code base, you'll want to use the branch v2.2.x-release

Regards,... Fred

This sounds great, however, I'm surprised fixing audio clipping/"artifacts" in collaboration with the freeswitch guys is not on the priority list.

Sincerely yours,

Alex

Hi Alex,

We have not forgotten about this.  At the moment, we do not (yet) understand why the audio stream has occasional clips and pops in the audio.  Nonetheless, we can work on this issue (along with others) as we move the product forward to newer releases of Ubuntu.

Regards,... Fred

Hi Fred,
These are great news!
Would it be possible to add the "push the layout" from moderators to viewers, something like was working on the flash client for BBB-2.3? This is the most requested feature from our teachers.
Regards,
German

Thanks for the feedback -- we have this on our road map, but no promises that we'll have it in 2.3.  We're trying to keep 2.3 as minimal as possible (bug fixes and changes needed for 18.04) so we can move BigBlueButton to 18.04.

Regards,... Fred
