HI Xonox,

> also there will be no bbb-air-client  for (windows/linux) desktop

Why would you want to use an Adobe Air client over a web-based client that requires no end-user install?

hi fred

it s because the web-based solution ,they do not work all the time , today working , and next week maybe broken
or webrtc is working on firefox and doest work on chrome and doesnt work on internet explorer

and you should not forget that we must install  chrome and firefox and ie , ,,,we must do install anyway
also wahy you are against installing bbb-air-client  on desktop ????

maybe there is students they cant install a bbb-air-client on desktop ,maybe because its so complex for students to do install.
install this one or that one ,, where is the difference????

iam not against webbased solution , but i like to use also a client

Hi Xonox,

We don't have any plans to develop and Air version of BigBlueButton -- to install any software on a computer you need administrator permissions, and to distribute an installable application you must educate people on how to install it, ensure they have permissions to install it, help them override their virus checker software, test the installer on a large combination of OS, and notify users when updates are available.

The last point is probably the hardest -- once you have users install a version of your product, it's frozen.  If a user doesn't upgrade, then you are forever supporting the earlier versions on the server.  In contrast, you can update BigBlueButton on your server and everyone will be using the latest client.

Installing software has its positives, but they are far outweighed by the negatives.

Regards,... Fred
