some people just feel the need to procrastinate.
the sad thing is, often they would be all that was needed to make long chains :(

Hopefully No I want to see the results!  Why would people wait until the last minute to submit..

This is a massive question not yet addressed.  We were around 85-88% submissions before the crash.  Hopeful Trent extends the Want List submission time until midnight or something.

There is something beautiful about long trade chains, especially ones that have a new trader who slightly undervalues their game and then BAM everyone wins!  It's like a virtual version of Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery."

Let's hope he extends the math trade deadline tonight. Please :)

Well the OLWLG is still open with 92% of wantlists in for anyone interested.

the OLWLG is still up so there is NO REASON not to be able to summit your wantlist...

93% wants in,

And there is a second thread started earlier on this as well

Maybe someone can explain how to update wants without accessing BGG because I don't see where anyone has answered that??

http://bgg.activityclub.org/olwlg/ If you still have a valid cookie from a previous session, you don't need to go through the login procedure.

Just for reference sake (and I'm not sure how this affects things...) I tried submitting a change to my wantlist just now (post deadline) and it appears to have been reflected in the submission information...

Right, and if you don't have cookies enabled???

Then I'd say tough luck.  Everybody had several days to get their want lists in...there's no sense in making everybody else wait even longer to accommodate a select few that waited until the last minute.  There's always next math trade.

Is your browser history enabled?  If so, search it to find the one that looks like bgg.activityclub.org/olwlg/bgglogin.cgi?c=XXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX and use it to get into the OLWLG.

The problem with that answer is that the more people that fail to submit, the fewer total trades that will happen. This is bad for everyone involved.

Even without the BGG shortage, it's generally not a good idea to wait until the last minute before working on wantlists for a 4,000 item math trade. :)

The point is, even if 1 person is missing it could affect a trade chain.  A trade chain that could affect if YOU get the game you REALLY wanted or not.  I have already submitted my want list, but that 7% missing could be the difference in me making a trade, or you making a trade.  Also this situation should bring into discussion why we have to go through BGG to access OLWLG?  Maybe there needs to be an option to have log in sent to email or something...

Hey Paula, while I definitely agree that it would be nice to get a non-bgg way to log in, it seems like you have to be pretty intentional to get stuck...

1. delete the email from jeffy jeff with the link.  Most people forward geekmail to email, right?
2. delete / prevent cookies in your browser
3. delete the browser history containing the login link

I'm PRETTY sure that the 7% at this point are non-submitters (or even just blank wantlist submitters) or people who plain old forgot that this was going on tonight. I doubt that there are any people who are hosed in the last 3 hours before the math trade ends because they basically MADE themselves unable to log in w/out depending on bgg.  When I have a link that I need, keeping it in my geekmail is probably the LAST thing that I would do (as opposed to, say, a bookmark, normal email, browser history, etc...  I understand your concern about not getting the one trade that you wanted, but I also want to assure you that the majority of people not submitting are laming out rather than being PREVENTED...

I agree with just about everything your saying.  Maybe its just being upset that I can't do my final once over.  Probably for the best because I am one that changes my wants like 15 times.  But, why can't be expect geekmail to be as secure as any other free email service?  My point is that everyone seems to be favoring the side of BGG (which is understandable because of the service they provide) but little is discussed on how problems can be prevented in the future.  Especially when the site is involved in exchanges of goods and pay-to-use services (i.e. Ad-free, 3% commission).  There is nothing like this site but as we ALL believe, board gaming is erupting, and what happens when this site can no longer keep up?

I don't clear cookies often, but I did the other day, so I'm not logged in to OLWLG - Don't it figure!

Fortunately I already submitted my wants.

If it were Friday night and I actually had a chance in shipping stuff out on Saturday, then I'd potentially see the value of ending it now, if only so I could get my stuff out this weekend.  But since it's after 9 on the West coast, and I won't be staying up late enough to see if the trades become visibile tonight anyway, I'd be fine if it were extended until tomorrow night.

Even if it's just a handful of 'procrastinators' (most likely busy people) then I say give them a chance, especially if they weren't able to log in for the final hours.  The more people in it, the more likely we'll all be able to trade.
