Hi Paolo,

Just a heads-up, this came out today https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=linux412-hddssd-io . I know that BFQ is not tuned for throughput, especially by default, but you might still be interested in the results. I've never used the Phoronix Test Suite myself, but it's supposed to offer an easy way to reproduce these benchmarks.

Thank you very much for this link. unfortunately, as you yourself
noted, this is yet another test with BFQ configured the wrong way. I
have reported this issue for the previous test report from Phoronix.

I have even started a thread, with Michael Larabel, to extend the
Phoronix suite in such a way that it configures BFQ properly. Michael
offered help, but that thread got stuck. I'll try to restart it.

Definitely. My final goal, as I have time to, is to integrate the S
benchmark suite with the Phoronix Test Suite.

Thanks,
Paolo

Hi Paolo,

This thread has got a good amount of attention after the benchmarks. Do you think you could point out what a proper configuration would be?

Rather easy: just switch low_lateny off. By chance, are you expert
enough of the Phoronix Suite to know whether this could be done easily
with that suite?

Thanks,
Paolo
