Homebrewers,

The time has come to prepare for the 33rd Oregon Homebrew Festival.  This much anticipated event will take place on May 16, 2015, graciously hosted once again by Calapooia Brewing in Albany, Oregon. The festival is designed to showcase the dedication, hard work and creative spirit that goes into every batch of homebrew!  This festival is conducted as an AHA/BJCP Sanctioned Competition Program (SCP) and is also a qualifying event for the Masters Championship of Amateur Brewing: MCAB XVIII - 2015 season.

The complete list of rules are available online and there will be prizes for your award winning brews!  There will also be a special award for the Best First Competition Entrant!  Everyone should try to participate in this annual festival and there are many ways to do so!  Brewing is the most obvious!  You may also volunteer to help as needed and please join us for the awards ceremony to be held at Calapooia Brewing on May 16, to celebrate the culmination of the competition and enjoy the benefits of a fantastic raffle!

Heart of the Valley Homebrewers is pleased to announce:

Packing & Shipping Hints
Carefully pack your entries in a sturdy box. Line the inside of your carton with a plastic trash bag. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packaging material. Do not over pack! Write clearly: "Fragile. This Side Up." on the package. Your package should weigh less than 25 pounds.
In our commitment to being green, Heart of the Valley Homebrewers strives to recycle 100% of all packing materials for the Oregon Homebrew Festival entries. In order to do this we need your help by following these simple suggestions:

Please no Styrofoam "peanuts" or pellets. Not only they are difficult to recycle but more often than not if we receive damaged entries, these were used for packaging.
Limit tape use as it prevents our ability to recycle. More is not better. Bubble wrapped bottles do not need to be fully wrapped in tape.

Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken to make arrangements for sending replacement bottles.
It is not against any Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) regulations or federal laws to ship your entries via privately owned shipping company for analytical purposes. However, IT IS ILLEGAL TO SHIP ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES VIA THE U.S. POSTAL SERVICE. Private shipping
companies have the right to refuse your shipment if they are informed that the package contains glass and/or alcoholic beverages. Be aware that entries mailed internationally are often required by customs to have proper documentation. These entries might be opened and/or returned to the shipper by customs' officials at their discretion. It is solely the entrant's responsibility to follow all applicable laws and regulations.
