ブラックベリー、新機種にアンドロイド搭載の可能性＝関係筋

カナダのブラックベリー(BB.TO)は、次に発売するスマートフォン（スマホ）に米グーグル(GOOGL.O)のモバイル端末向け基本ソフト（ＯＳ）「アンドロイド」を初めて搭載することを検討している。事情に詳しい関係者４人が明らかにした。
２０１３年初めに鳴り物入りで発売した「ブラックベリー１０」で、米アップル(AAPL.O)の「ｉＰｈｏｎｅ（アイフォーン）」やアンドロイド搭載機種に奪われた市場シェアを奪回できると見込み、アンドロイドを回避してきたブラックベリーにとって１８０度の方針転換となる。
関係者は、アンドロイドの搭載はソフトウエアとデバイス管理に軸足を移すブラックベリーの戦略の一環とみている。現在、同社のスマホの市場シェアは１％に満たない。
アンドロイド搭載への動きが、ブラックベリー１０搭載機種の終わりを告げるものかどうかは、明らかでない。
同社は電子メールで「うわさや憶測にはコメントしないが、セキュリティと生産性の面で比類ない効果をもたらすブラックベリー１０のＯＳに引き続き全力で取り組む」と述べた。
グーグルのコメントは得られていない。
ブラックベリーのジョン・チェン最高経営責任者（ＣＥＯ）は同社の新たなデバイス管理システム「ＢＥＳ１２」に期待を寄せている。これは企業や政府の顧客が、社内ネットワーク上でブラックベリー端末だけでなく、アンドロイドやアップルのｉＯＳ、マイクロソフト(MSFT.O)のウィンドウズ搭載の機種も管理できるシステム。
関係者２人によると、ブラックベリーはこの秋に発売される公算が大きいスライド式の次機種にアンドロイドを搭載するとみられる。このスライド式の機種は、タッチスクリーンとユーザーが好みで使用できるキーボートを組み合わせたもの。また、ブラックベリー１０ＯＳで特許を既に取得している機能の一部も、次機種に搭載される可能性があるという。

BlackBerryには是非とも独自OSで生き残って欲しいです。
決まった味しかない世界はつまらないですから(笑)
何事もそうだと思いますけど、初動が遅いと後々辛い思い（今の状況）をすることになりますね。
そういう意味では、路線変更するにはギリギリのタイミング（ちょっと遅い？）かもしれない、とも思ったりもします。
どちらにしても、今しばらくはBlackBerryを応援していきたいと思います！

私の様なにわかユーザーであれば、変な話ルックアンドフィールさえBlackBerryしてれば、下回り（OS）が何であれ概ね満足感を得られるかも知れませんね。
シェア回復には新規顧客の獲得が不可欠でしょうから、Androidアプリが不都合なく動作する事を売りにする方が、短期的には得策なのでしょうかね。
そう考えると、今度はネイティブBB10アプリが、QNXエミュレーター上で動くんでしょうか！？
それはそれで興味が湧きます。

QNX に基づいた BlackBerry Tablet OS と BlackBerry 10 OS に時間と資金を費した後なので、いまから Android を fork しても too little too late かもしれません。

BlackBerry reportedly plans to roll out multiple models of Android-based smartphones in the second half of 2015, with Taiwan-based handset ODMs, including Foxconn Electronics, Compal Electronics and Wistron serving as production partners, according to sources at Taiwan's handset supply chain.
While running on Android OS, the new BlackBerry smartphones will also integrate some software functions of BlackBerry OS and application services such as BES12, BBM and BlackBerry Blend, said the sources.
To enhance the competitiveness of its hardware products, BlackBerry has expanded the list of its hardware partners to include Compal Electronics and Wistron in addition to the previous partner Foxconn, the sources added.
The roll-out of Android-based BlackBerry phones is unlikely to result in losses at BlackBerry since these Taiwan-based ODMs will be responsible for R&D, marketing and channel distribution expenses, indicated the sources.
Since BlackBerry still enjoys a high brand image in a number of markets, the BlackBerry-ODM partnerships might be able to ramp up overall shipments of BlackBerry phones and therefore boosting the value of BlackBerry's hardware business unit, commented the sources.

BlackBerry Limited Registers Android Domain Names

BlackBerry Limited registered two domain names that are interesting: AndroidSecured.com |.net
This is interesting because it was recently rumored that a new BlackBerry phone would run the Android operating system. Since “Android” is a registered trademark of Google Inc. this may be a solid clue that BlackBerry and Google have come to terms for a BlackBerry phone to run Android?
An article on Fut-Science.com plays out that the phone will be called BlackBerry Venice and the article resembles that the phone is true and will launch in October 2015.
The two newly registered domain names by BlackBerry Limited may be further proof that BlackBerry will have an Android run device?
Both domain names were registered at corporate domain name registrar MarkMonitor, which is used by BlackBerry / RIM. Here is the screen shot from whois on AndroidSecured.com showing the domains registration on July 7, 2015
