Check your rear derailleur and see if it supports 31 tooth at the back.

Generally road bikes have short cages in which case it may not.

As far as I can remember, the sport1 had a medium cage (I might be wrong). Tiagra medium cage supported the 11-32 9 speed cassette I put on but needed a B screw adjustment. In case your RD doesn't shift down all the way, try adjusting the B screw and check once for angle.

How much would you charge for the old cassette? I'm interested in that. Thanks.

I think theoretically you are right B screw should do the trick; my derailleur is rd 2300, But then  Will see once the parts come in

Why are you interested in a worn out cassette?

Opendro

I bought a new wheelset without cassette. For now, I use the old cassette for both the new and old wheels. I'm currently looking for a used hub as the hub in the old wheels are worn out. Then get another used (worn out or whatever) cassette to be mated to the old wheelset. I plan to use the old wheelset for time pass and leisurely rides like brevet or over the weekend rides. And save the new wheelset as long as I can.

You should check your old rims. If your hub is worn out chances are
high that your rims are too.

Put it in a bank locker? ;)

OT: What tires are you running on your new wheelset?

My old rims are not that old actually. I hit a bad pothole in a night ride on Electronic City highway and rim got a dip. So, I bought a pair of not so expensive rims. Then sooner when I opened the hub for re-greasing I saw a dip on the hub as well. Interestingly, I had a bearing ball less in the front and I thought that was the count. I would have lost in the previous re-greasing. This would have contributed to the damage to the hub as well. At the end, I decided to buy a better wheelset mainly for BBCh races (though I'm no where in the road race scene ;-)) So, my old rims are indeed usable.

I'm running the stock hutchinson tires on the front of the new wheelset. The rear has a vitoria rubino that has done about 8000 km.

Don't invest or buy anything *new* for RACES unless and until you race in only Cat amateurs and not with sponsored rider's.
We ( I am saying We and not Me looking at what you have put in brackets ) amateurs anyhow get lapped in 10 mins or get dropped within 5/10km :-)

That is so true about BBCh road race and me now. It was more of an impulsive purchase. I saw the condition on my hub and I was like I had to buy one which was readily available. Ironically, the new wheelset cost same as the cycle which I bought new two years ago.

So this brings us to a philosophical question. Is your bike still a B'Twin Sport 1?

Let's leave that ability/inability debate aside, i want to say that if they ( sponsored riders ) crash, they *might* get a new bike/component from their sponsor
If you crash you have to give business to the local vendors - I hope you got my point.
Of course we might crash on a solo ride too but going to the race knowing that i will get dropped or lapped or might crash - why would i do it ;-)
I told my friend Focus on your main goal Don't go to the criterium - you might crash - he crashed - his helmet is damaged apart from bruises on his body.
Now he has to buy a new helmet. Buying expensive components/upgrades before the race or post crash ( due to crash ) is just a waste of money.
Anyway this is my personal opinion. I might be wrong and i really don't care what other's have to tell about this.

No no. I differ on that part. I enjoy whichever part of the race I survive. I don't know how long this excitement is going to last. But I just like to go and stand in the start line in spite of knowing the end result. But I don't take much risk while riding in peloton or paceline. There is no point in taking that risk from my stand point anyway.

Yes, have to agree, and this is precisely why they need to separate the sponsored teams. To allow the others to retain 'interest'. Interest will be there when you feel you have some chance at a podium finish. This has been discussed at length in BZ. If the avg joe feels like you do [rightfully so], the races will see dwindling numbers.

The issue is not 'sponsored teams' - its basically a better category system so that you are racing with your equals in skill/strength and sometimes equipment (downhill for example).

The crit kinda blew up the whole field because of a short course and a MUCH stronger rider lapping everyone. Just made the whole category system feel broken.

The BBCh team has moved pretty fast implementing better categories aligned with skill levels to ensure the races are safer. But looks like things are moving slightly faster than we expected. Tricky to implement better category systems mid season (unless its something related to safety!)

Anyways, the team is working on this and we have feedback from a few few riders. If you have recommendations/suggestions we would love to hear it. Shoot an email to ad...@bangalorebicyclechampionships.com

This is what I posted in BZ (post is yet to be approved):
2 cents from me. Actually 3 cents. First, there ought to be a category that will serve as an open field. Let that be open category and let there is nominal fee and a small prize too. Second, let there be an elite category with more fees and more prizes. Third, an amateur category without any fee where there need not be prizes or it need not be timed; just pick the winner as they cross the finish line; no points or ranking for them.

So, anyone whoever claims to be a pro racer will spontaneously go to elite as this is the only place they can claim the real prize. Let this also be open to whoever willing.

Anyone whoever races only for pride will race in the open category and prize will be small. Note that even a sponsored and pro racer can come in here if they wish to.

The third category can be protected from all the strong and skilled guys if required. Restrictions could be like, only the bottom 30 from an ITT or someone who has never averaged 30 kmph in any of the given races in the past. Winners from amateur category should be disallowed for the next race if they beat the others by a big margin, for instance. Ok... let not list all the silly points. They are just examples. But it may be too much of a task for the organizers to keep data of who can race in amateurs or not. So, this can also be kept as open eventually. And I bet any rider who considers himself or herself as fit will spontaneously keep away from this, I bet.
