Director, Classroom and Desktop Technologies

Reporting to the Executive Director of Client Support Services, the Director of Classroom and Desktop Technologies sets strategy, direction, and service standards for classroom technologies and for desktop management. This position provides oversight and direction of all aspects of development, deployment, testing, service, and support to maintain operational uptime of classrooms and conference room audiovisual equipment. Incumbent is also responsible for all of the technology in labs, public computing facilities, and kiosks. This role also provides oversight of teams responsible for engineering responsibilities of administrative desktops and the tools needed for successful management of such systems. Incumbent must work independently, but within the guidelines of Client Support protocols. The incumbent is the lead representative of Classroom and Desktop Technologies with end user groups and within CUIT. Establishes and oversees implementation of policies, procedures, and standards. Ensures conformance with departmental goals. The incumbent studies and projects the resource requirements, including personnel, software, equipment and facilities and makes recommendations to 
management. 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
- Recommends and oversees execution of deployment of emerging technology in the classroom space. 
- Oversees teams during both implementation and support initiatives for classroom technologies. 
- Sets team direction, set goals, coaches, and counsels staff to accomplish goals. 
- Reports on status of projects regularly using departmentally defined reporting metrics. 
- Works closely with campus IT leaders, student groups, and clients to improve existing services, develop new services, and communicate technology planning to campus groups as required. 
- Defines service performance measures dynamically adjusting process and/or resources as necessary. 
- Manages campus technology contractor and consultants. 
- Oversees hiring, staff development, and organizational structure as required. 
- Communicates with senior management on system-wide issues, recommending solutions including resource needs, timelines, and targeted benefits. 
- Acts as a relationship manager in representing CUIT to our internal customers and outside vendors by negotiating contracts, service level agreements, and ensures all service requirements are delivered. 
- Creates processes to ensure the on-time/on-budget deployment of maintenance and lifecycle upgrades. 
- Develops, monitors, and implements performance measures for key metrics such as equipment uptime, time to resolution, and customer satisfaction. 
- Using Service-Now, monitors and measures service performance, dynamically making adjustment to process and/or resources as necessary.
