Hello, I just concluded my MPH in Health policy & management with Implemntation Research, my thesis was on integrating integrated community case management (iCCM) intervention into district health system governance function in Kapiri District, Zambia. At the moment aslo working on systematic review on integrating iCCM into the community health system. I have started trying out PhD applications, but failing to zero down on to a research topic under child health interventions, using the lens of implementation research. Any help or suggestions to me find a topic? Any research topic of global or regional importance that can advance child health & I can try to position my research topic?

Dear Riri Johnson Vonje,
I would advise you to zero on the recommendation you made in your study so that you continue that line.

All the best

Jane

Dear Riri,

Congratulations for the successful completion of your MPH programme and your intention to embark on your PhD. It's also noteworthy that you are currently working on a systematic review. I want to presume that you are doing the systematic review with a team or group of researchers. If you are, then your question is almost solved. The literature is a sure source for you to find gaps in knowledge that you can answer through your doctoral research. Systematic reviews thus provide a critical framework to identify gaps in your topic of interest. Hence, I will suggest you pay more attention as you progress with your systematic review for possible areas you can focus on for your PhD.

Wishing you the very best in your pursuit.

Sincerely,

Melvin.

Thanks  Melvin & Janat for ur feedbacks. I looked at both scenario, and my concern is the timing for this particular PhD that I would love to try. It's deadline is approaching, I & my team might not have finish it before the application deadline. Also my thesis was in Zambia, but my PhD will be in Uganda where I live, because of context-specific factors which is one the Implementation research domains, I would have considered the recommendation I identified in my thesis. But definitely will zero on to something! Many thanks once again!

Dear Riri,

First, congratulations on completion of your MPH in Health policy & management.
I am guessing you wish to extend your work of Master degree to the Doctoral degree. The issue you wish to address is also pertinent. However, child health issues are also a vast field and therefore zero down to a single component is really a hard task. But the plus points are, 1) you have already conducted a study and 2) you are conducting a review of literature. Thus, your knowledge is much higher than any one else. Look into areas specific community requirements, focus of international developing agencies on the child health issues and policy priorities. Develop a matrix and hope you will get your answer.

All the best,
Sumoni
