Inspired by media like Center Stage, Dance Academy and Mozart in the Jungle, Dance Dreams looks at the personal lives of dancers; exploring their relationships in and out of rehearsal with their colleagues, their family, their love interests and this challenging art form. Dance Dreams is a narrative show focused on the dancers in a ballet company: rehearsing and competing to be the best while also dealing with the angst/drama of falling in and out of love, dealing with their own body issues, and finding their artistic expression.

The show itself will some dance incorporated (right now we are thinking of two choreographed pieces) but will mostly showcase the characters just outside of their rehearsal spaces, going on dates, in their living spaces, and preparing for their big performance. We will heavily focus on the relationships of the dancers (between each other, with their families, with their instructors, with outsiders, etc.) but will also include some fun moments to explore ballet/movement. So movement is important but is not the end-all be-all for this show.

From a tech perspective, we will be focusing on supporting the the emotional beats of the scenes as they are expressed through acting and dance. There is the possibility of special lights specific for the dance pieces, and sound will involve a single tech responsible for minimal scoring and sound effects.

Who should audition? Those who love dance and exploring what art means. Improvisers not afraid to be vulnerable with scene partners. All ages, gender identities,  body types, and ethnicities are welcome and encouraged!

Requirements to audition:
- Ability and willingness to move and learn dance movements and jargon
- For Stage: At least two years of improv experience (this can include classes - does not mean stage time)
- For Tech: Significant experience interning, teching Maestro, or have teched a Mainstage or a Student Mainstage at the Hideout or any other theater previously
