Channel Logos are a minefield from a brand perspective, rather than issuing them on a transparent background, owners would want to give the "transparent when used on black" and "transparent used on white" variants. Issuing them on a slab of white keeps them within the brand guidelines (almost)

I only know of one source of high quality channel logos to build images

matching your app's theme ... Wikipedia ... Other than that I agree with
thegareth, its going to be tough to get such a collection in an
officially approved way. Maybe a project similar to fanart.tv (which
have exact guidelines of how the images are to be layed out) could work.
At Wikipedia I found vector logos with transparent background for all
the channels I needed. Using them you can render pixel images with
resolution, border and combination (think time sharing a channel) of
logos you actually need.

If anyone is up for making a structured feed of alternative channel logos we'd be happy to ingest and serve links through the API. Would be neater than lots of people going and finding a source of channel logos for their own apps.
We might also be able to drum up logos on black for some channels. We'll see what we can do here, no promises.
