Wanted to pass this along to those developers & designers interested in transportation issues. We will be working on transit, biking, walking, streetcar, rail, bus and car issues. This is a great way for designers and developers to quickly make a project for your portfolio while supporting a civic cause.
TransportationCamp South and Govathon are joining forces for a one-of-a-kind combined event in Atlanta on the weekend of April 12-13, 2014.
When: April 12-13. Doors open at 8:30am. Program starts at 9:30am. Where: Georgia Tech - Clough Commons. 266 4th St NW, Atlanta, GA 30313.
Two events for the price of one! Code for Atlanta is partnering with Transportation Camp South, a sold out event last year that Creative Loafing called a "wonk's heaven", to offer you a combined transportation-focused unconference and hackathon.
We of course think Govathon is Atlanta's best civic hackathon, but don't take our word for it: Creative Loafing named it "Best Step Toward Becoming a Smarter City" in their "Best of Atlanta" issue.
MARTA recently opened its real-time rail API! Plus, Shyam Dunna, MARTA's interim CIO, will be in attendance as well.
Experts from the Atlanta Beltline, the City of Atlanta, Atlanta Regional Commission, GDOT and more will also be in attendance!
Who knows, maybe you'll end up working on a project or app that you could submit to the U.S. Department of Transportation's data challenge and win a trip to Washington, D.C.! The deadline is April 30th.
Please RSVP on Eventbrite so we can have an accurate headcount (also, day of pricing will increase). That's also where you can find a detailed agenda for the weekend, as well as information on the venue and how to get there.
Huge thanks to our gold sponsors (Google, MailChimp, NCTSPM) and bronze sponsors (AirSage, ARC, Cambridge Systematics, Kwanza Hall, nMomentum, the Sierra Club, RideCell), without whom this huge event would not be possible.
Thanks,
Terry Allen : @Artifacture
