Hi,

If I wanted to just create an AIP and store it, then later on I wanted to create a DIP from that original SIP-can I do that in the newest version? Do I have to go in and process the SIP again or can I use the original one (if that makes sense)? Basically it is like creating the DIP on an as needed basis.

Thanks!

Cheers

Hi Lisa,

In the newest version, this is not possible but it will be possible when we introduce the Re-ingest AIP feature in Archivematica 1.4. You will be able to re-ingest an AIP, and update its metadata (if desired) and generate a DIP from it. Currently, you can store the DIP in the Storage Service rather than uploading it to an access system- you can then download it as a zipped package, unpack it and upload manually to whatever access system you are using.

Hope that gives you some ideas for now!

Cheers,

Sarah
