Dedicating myself tonight to the website content that I've also been hugely lacking on doing anything for.  I got some rough organization and updates to my content outline and will be bugging others for more details and photos for each item/project in the list.

This topic will be to continue that conversation:

I got everything organized into 4 categories
1) The Arch Reactor - the space for the space.  Niels floorplans will be a great start here and we'll progress into a better 'vitual walkthrough'.  All 'projects' to update the space will be maintained here as well.

2)  Social and Events - This will host the regular/semi regular social night details (minecraft, boardgame nights) as well as the events we both host (Geek Prom) and attend (Archon).

3) Education - Hopefully we can grow this out into 2 things.  Classes we have scheduled to teach/display for signup (like the soldering class) or could offer if requested (arduino) as well as generic content always available (how to use Tool 'X" videos, etc).

4) Personal and Team Projects - This is where everything else personal or open may be displayed to show the activities of our membership.  Want this to be an endless list of possibilities our space has/is/will perform.

Current rough draft of what I have is here:

Thanks!

Letterpress v.1.2 project is complete and free for anyone to play with. It has travelled to Maker Faire KC, Prom, and Abby and Nate used it to make their wedding invitations. For those who want to use it there are a few quirks to follow. One is when letting out the pressure to not let it out all the way. That is, only let up enough so you can slip out the plate. Letting all the pressure out makes the jack leak and shortens its life. Second is to make sure you completely clean and dry the plates after use. There is an orange bucket that has extra 100% cotton paper, plates, ink and cleaning supplies. If you have any questions about operation just drop me a line and I can give a short lesson.

Letterpress v.2 will be coming when the current one needs to be retired to the great garage in the sky. New version will have casters for portability, narrow drawers to store materials, and a folding table built in to allow printing without the need of any external table.

Got the first page setup over the Arch Reactor Space.  Feel free to proof-read and critique:  http://archreactor.org/space

Obviously we want to add better photos that what I quickly grabbed last night, but the space is ever changing anyway.

"10. Open/Closed Alert - Chris - Near Completed - Switch is in place for tweeting status of the space being opened or closed but deciding if/how it could email the group as well."

If you use "if this then that" (www.ifttt.com) you can set it up to send you an email (or a text message) whenever a Tweet is sent from Arch Reactor.

What would be cool is a graphic on the website that changed with the state.....

it's already tweeting and making a an image (
http://notify.archreactor.org/img.php and it looks like someone forgot
to turn it off?). getting it to post to the list is mostly a matter
of "do we really want that, since people are encouraged to post what
the space is open for and how long anyway?"

Also, I'm not opposed to moving it to right next to the door, on the
comms wall was always meant to be temporary while the remodel was
going on.

Which website? Now that discussion is on google groups, and not seen through a frame or somesuch, does anyone ever look at the old archreactor domain site? I don't...

the old forum wasn't in a "frame". you could have directly linked to it too.

I go to the AR site when I want to get to the google group because I
don't use it enough to warrant a bookmark.

That is why we are making efforts to get content back to the website.  But members are only half (or less) our audience.

Ok, I've worked out a basic 6-point template for us to use for all projects to post on the webpage.  Going to try to get as many projects listed as I can at least through the summary.

Project Template for the Project Tab:
Title: (obvious)
Project Manager: (Who to blame)
Project Team: (Who person above blames)
Project Goals and Summary: (Quick explanation of what it is and why one would want to join the team or learn more - show off original source of inspiration)
<!--break--> (inserted in source to divide summary on project page from further details)
Project Progress and Details: (Further information on the progress, like a mini-blog of whats going on.  Include documents, photos, or other links).
Storage or Location:  (Let us know what belongs where so it's not lost in the mess)

ShapeOko Example Template: http://archreactor.org/shapeoko-cnc-router

Shapeoko CNC Router
Project Manager: Andy R

Project Team: Mike, Travis, Niels, Tim, Deech

Project Goals and Summary:

Our goal is to upgrade the existing HobbyCNC router to the ShakeOko CNC design platform:

http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Using this design, we are expanding to a 4ft x 3ft cutting area and hope to further expand into a 4ft x 8ft cutting area that will fold up onto the shop wall when not in use

Project Progress and Details:

Currently we have purchased all of our materials and now are looking for a waterjet or plasma cnc cutter for the steel motor plates.

The BOM may be found here: Google Docs

Storage or Location: All materials are being stored on top of the current CNC table.

Hey Guys....So I've been defunct on this task this week.  Got too distracted on tuesday to accomplish anything and busy the rest of the week.

I need to first organize my other content editors so I'm not holding this on my shoulders.  So lets rally and see what we can get done this next week.

1)  Ryan W, Frank, and George...  You all signed up originally as content editors.  Are you all still in and do you have site access to edit pages?  Anyone else want to join in please speak up now.

2)  We need a get together to just dedicate ourselves to catching up the site's content.  I know Ryan you have odd shifts, but if everyone lets me know when they could be available this weekend or next week (not tuesday) we could get some pizza and just work thru everything we know we can do and brainstorm out the rest.  An hour or 2 cram session could go a long way.

3)  Out of the list quoted:
     1) I started the space page but need more photo's for the site.  JOHN R and MIKE and know you have some! Send, link, or share with me, or upload them to the website if you can.
     2) Need to create and start this page
     3) Need to create and start this page
     4) I started that nice template and got a couple in there, but we really just need.  Tons of George stuff that should be on here!  Probably tons of Ryan H1/B stuff too.
