Hi!

As you might have already noticed lately, I'm not that active on aptly.

Many things have contributed to that, including lack of free time and shift of focus toward different areas.

I would like to say thank you to everyone who contributed to make aptly better by providing feedback, bug reports, testing, ideas and pull requests.

I'm looking for maintainers to pick up the aptly project and lead it forward towards new features, releases!

I think building team of maintainers might be better for the project health and community.

So, any volunteers?

Heya!

Rohan (@shadeslayer) and I (@apachelogger) have a business interest in
keeping aptly and expanding the API functionality, so you can count
the both of us in.

cheers,
HS

Count us in - we'll discuss who from our team can help to maintain the project
and in which way we can help.

Maybe we could start with a bi-weekly irc/hangout/... session to sync and plan
the next steps, discuss bug reports, etc. Then people who are interested and
have time can join and participate.

What do you think?

Kind regards,
Nicolas

Hi Andrey

Sad to hear you are leaving the aptly project.

I have contributed to aptly in the past and I am happy to be in a team of maintainers to keep aptly running. Please count me in!

Best,

Simon

Hi Andrey, all

As Nicolas already mentioned, our company would happily join in to help. We're using Aptly both internally and also doing development & integration for a client, so there is definitely some long term interest as well :)

Anyway, how would you propose the move? I think the best would be to create a new group on Github and give owner rights to the people who volunteered in this thread. Regarding the website, I think my company could sponsor something here as well...

I'd be happy to help the project move on, and thank you Andrey for the great work done!

Best,
David

Hey, sorry for disappearing for quite a long time.

I see there are several things which should be established:

1. Contribution process - how PRs should be reviewed, what should be part of the PR (e.g. tests, documentation, manual page and so on).
2. Moving out to CI pieces which I own exclusively: deployment of www.aptly.info (already done), nightly builds, release process, etc.
3. Establishing more test environments and procedures to do better cross-platform and cross-release testing.

When that is done (or in parallel with), I would like to see team of core maintainers which have final say over every PR out there. Community might be wider, but some people in the group should be final decision makers.

Thanks, still a lot of work to do on missing pieces, I'm cleaning up some code, fixing bugs, writing CONTRIBUTING document.
