Ahh. Thank you for the report. And thanks to Microsoft for the
incompatibilities. It used to work a while back (I had to do some changes
already to make it run with IE9). I'll look into this when I get back home
and have access to my virtual machines with the different windows versions
(I'm still in Munich, returning from Friedrichshafen, and will need to go
to Italy tomorrow for two more days).

Can you post the exact version of IE9 (hidden somewhere in the 'About'
screen)? The version string shown by http://whatsmyuseragent.com/ is good
too.

I am confused by this thread...I run I.E. 9 on my laptop and have no issues running APRS.FI.  It also runs fine on Chrome, latest version...

What am I doing wrong?  <<GRIN>>

The IE version is 9.0.8112.16421. I haven't found a solution but I did find a work arround. There are (2) issues. If you have any program loaded on your computer that lets you copy video from YouTube (i.e. Real Player), APRS.FI won't display the map. Also, If you have your tracking protection set to block web site tracking, the map won't display. Intrestingly enough, Firefox is not bothered by either of these. I haven't tried it on Chrome. If you encounter either of these problems, you will probably need to reboot after making the changes.

Ok, good findings - vanilla IE9 seems to work fine.

This is quite a surprise. What other programs did you find to belong in
that group besides Real Player (trying to figure why that feature would
break it)?

aprs.fi requires cookies to work through a browsing session (for session
management), so if they're completely blocked, it simply won't work.
Cookie blocking for cross-site tracking and deleting cookies after the
browsing session doesn't break it. Maybe the IE9 cookie blocker is somehow
broken, or the settings are simply too tight.

Lee, I have real player installed but no youtube video capture programs.  I have one on my server I can send over to the laptop and see what happens.

Heikki,The other program I tried was YouTube Downloader & Converter 3.7. Blocking 3rd party cookies does not kill it, but, setting tracking protection to block does kill it.

Joe, I am curious, are you doing either of these 2 things? If not. try one or the other, or both to see if you get the same results. Please let me know. Fixing those two problems has worked on all (5) of my computers.

Joe, RealPlayer is a video capture program, and that is what screws up my system on (5) computers. My primary computer is an I7 processor with Windows Ultimate 64 bit, however all my other computers (also running IE9) act the same way. I'm sure it's an IE9 problem but I'm not smart enough to figure out exactly what. In the meantime, if I need to download a video, I'll load Real Player and use Firefox to see APRS.

P.S. This is not a great problem, just an aggravating one. The main time I use it is to keep track of my friends when they are coming down from Michigan to meet me for a fishing trip at Lake Erie. That is why it took me so long to realize I had a problem. This time I was trying to track WA8ZWJ-10 on his way to field day in West Virginia and the weekend was over before I thought about using Firefox.
