Hi all,
A bad news to me was I sprained my ankle.
So I took two days sick leave.
A good news is I had time to clean up
all tasks in my todo list of kitkat-x86 to
release the 4.4-r3:

http://www.android-x86.org/releases/releasenote-4-4-r3

However, since the SourceForge is down now,
I uploaded the two files to Google Drive:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5bbP1aYGPSTU05Sb2I0NWwxaEk/view?usp=sharing
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5bbP1aYGPSTS2o2b2l6Ul9XME0/view?usp=sharing

I'm excited about the release since
there are many big improvements in it.
For example, android-x86-4.4-r3.img could be
booted and installed to ASUS T100
and almost everything works (except the camera).

Enjoy it!

Bluetooth not working on my iconia w500 with bluez

Bluetooth not working here, but my problem is the 4.0.8 kernel. General realtek usb bluetooth, in my case the chip combo wifi+bt "rtl8723au", seem to be working using 4.1 kernel or later. I will test it and report here the results.

Using a generic usb bluetooth works here as expected.

Uhh... get well soon for your ankle :)

I'm downloading this image tonight. Will try tomorrow :D
This gonna be fun.
Thank you very much for your hard work!

I'll try to mirror this file to my blog later.

On my Onda V975i V2 not work bluetooth and battery indicator.
Could you add them to the kernel?
Patch battery - https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83941#c29
Bluetooth driver - https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723bs_bt
And a small request. Please, turn 90 degrees to the accelerometer.

Lenovo Miix 2 8 tablet. Just updated BIOS to latest version 1.10 (90CN27WW) .

There's still issues with video not working. Booted up successfully only from second time, on DEBUG mode. I think this tablet might be cursed - something is very wrong with video.

What is working (when video actually works):
+ video acceleration
+ WiFi
+ sound
+ power button
+ home button
+ youtube plays videos with sound
+ display brightness
+ poweroff

Doesn't work:
- bluetooth
- volume buttons
- microphone
- autorotate
- battery status display

At ASUS T100, what will happen if I install EFI GRUB2 and choose to format mmcblk0p1? is it safe to format?

Because if I choose not to format, looks like nothing is installed!

Hi Vaidotas,

Want to do some crazy experiments? Read this page you can mod your fw in order to access advanced settings:
https://patrikesn.wordpress.com/2015/01/11/guide-unlocking-the-hidden-bios-pages-on-lenovo-miix-2-11/

Maybe there is something that could help you out. Take a look at something that could affect CPU clocking. This seems to be the problem with this machine, based on previous logcat/dmesg you provided.

Regards,
Pstglia

Get well soon Chih-Wei !
Great work from the whole team!

For my Acer  Switch 10 SW5-012, the working/nonworking status is mostly same as for previous version, but the good point is I can use the generic image you uploaded here rather than a custom build.

Wifi:working
Brightness: not working
sound: not working
Auto-rotate : Wierd issue. When Auto-rotate is On, the screen is by default rotated 90deg clockwise from where it should be.
Bluetooth : Not working(but dont care much for it).
External keyboard(dock that comes with tablet) : not working
Touchpad: working but bit funny as it basically acts like the touchscreen than a mouse.

great work. this is a huge step forward on my bay trail device.

some things i noticed.

Text To Speech output.
The Pico engine never really worked for me.
However google released the google text to speech engine for x86 and it works like a charm.
maybe that can become the default text to speech engine?

there seems to be a problem with GL.
When i open google photos i get this exception:

Thanks for the update! I hope you get well soon.

I will test the image, see if the installer works and maybe update the magic stick so the community can play with it.

Best wishes and take care,
C.

1. Install Xposed framework. Do not reboot when it prompts you to.
2. Open up terminal emulator, run command "echo 0x98 > /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/jit_reset_offset" without the quotes.
3. Re-install Xposed framework.
4. Reboot

Gett well soon...

Downloaded the iso, tried it on Hyper-V. I am not able to see eth0 when using "netcfg" on "ip a", networking doesn't seem to work. I am running it on Hyper- with a Legacy network adapter.
I have also seen this issue with recent builds on kitkat-x86.

Thanks

hi everyone, I use Android-x86 since r1 version and now I've got some issues, problems:

- formerly I installed the Windows 7, after Ubuntu (dual boot) and Android-x86 ON Linux partition created by Ubuntu and voila, I had Windows and Android-x86.

Now, I did the same but now Windows is corrupted, why??

Okay closer now,

On the Linx 10 Baytrail (very similar to T100) we have the following working:

  • Touchscreen (100% works)
  • Wifi (100% works)
  • Brightness slider (100% works)
  • Accelerometer (auto rotation) (50% works, appears to be upside down, more about this in a moment)
  • Volume buttons (100% works)
  • Windows logo button (acts as home button)
  • USB port (100% works)
Not working:

  • Bluetooth (doesn't even enable)
  • Power button (completely unrecognised)
  • Battery (unrecognised), says charged all the time.
  • Sound through speakers/headphone port.
Now I believe the problem with the accelerometer is fixed in windows via a registry tweak by default. This registry tweak essentially just rotates the screen an extra 180° to make the screen show the right way up.

I was able to get sound working by plugging in my USB audio device but not through the headphone port or through the speakers unfortunately.

Also there's a red LED that shows up when the tablet is booting up and goes off when it gets the Windows OS, in android-x86, it just stays on.

What can I do to help fix these issues for Linx 10? Any debugging I could provide, I'm happy to do this.

Google drive seems to have a download limit, anyone have a torrent going of the iso?

I'll take another pass at building it but the builds are cratering due to warnings treated as errors in the wifi modules last i cheked.

Everything seems pretty good on my T100 - only real thing I've noticed is that the speaker doesn't mute when you plug in the headphones. Anyone experienced this or know how to fix?

Looking forward to the camera - has anyone managed to integrate the 4.1 kernel? (https://github.com/maurossi/linux)

Everything works on a Lenovo X200T with Wacom pen.
(Wifi/BT/camera/sound/pen after calibration run)

Still seeing some random text corruption on the desktop and in some apps, but it comes and goes.
Have tried forcing HW accel, not sure if it made much difference.
Is fully usable.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Which driver do you use? wacom-input or inputattach?

On my x201t only the touch is working, not the pen.

I didn't have to do anything, it just worked out of the box, using the original posted iso of R3.

Pen didn't activate until I ran the calibration app though.

I'll have to poke around in the init to sort which driver was used, inputattach should support pen and touch, not sure about wacom-input.

/system/etc/init.sh loads inputattach for the X200.
You can easily change that to try wacom-input.

I don't have the pen+TS to test, just the pen.

It may need some additional prodding for the pen and TS to be picked up, haven't found what args are used yet.

Hi, Have a lenovo i5 5200 processor and virtualbox. The R3 iso image does not seem to boot. Never gets to the create partition screen - keeps coming up with invalid ops smp error. Any ideas what I should be looking at?

Thanks to the SourceForge download service is back.
I've uploaded the images to SourceForge.

The Google Drive shared will be removed later.

I have the same issues. (Lenovo MIIX 2 8)
After having successfully booting with WiFi Working, I was really excited.
But after rebooting/shutdown the system, it no longer boots... goes to blank screen and flickers a few times.... i'm speculating that its something to do with the Video Drivers?

Remaking the USB bootable key, boots again, but WiFi doesn't work anymore...

Hoping the next version will fix this issue.

There's still issues with video not working. Booted up successfully only from second time, on DEBUG mode. I think this tablet might be cursed - something is very wrong with video.

What is working (when video actually works):
+ video acceleration
+ WiFi
+ sound
+ power button
+ home button
+ youtube plays videos with sound
+ display brightness
+ poweroff

Doesn't work:
- bluetooth
- volume buttons
- microphone
- autorotate
- battery status display

However, since the SourceForge is down now,

I'm excited about the release since
there are many big improvements in it.
For example, android-x86-4.4-r3.img could be
booted and installed to ASUS T100
and almost everything works (except the camera).

Enjoy it!

Backlight isn't fully turning off on my T100TA in sleep mode, can still be seen in a dark place.

A kernel issue perhaps ?

This is more likely issue with hardware, or requires very specific kernel settings/driver. I'm was trying to get Android-x86 running on Lenovo Miix 2 8 for more that a year now. Ended up buying cheap Android tablet instead.

It's just bad luck I guess.
Bay Trail Linux support is still rather buggy. While the drivers work just fine on some devices (like the Asus T100TA), they are buggy on others. But it's getting better with every new kernel version.

I recommend taking a look here from time to time, maybe newer kernels will have better support for your device.

The backlight is not being turned off after pressing power button. It only dims. I know this has been reported already here, but has anyone found a solution?
