How to understand the directory structure of Android source code!

I have downloaded the android source code for 2.3 i.e. gingerbread. I
want to modify the android 2.3 to enable it to support user accounts
as in windows desktop operating system. For doing that i need to find
the file which creates the user interface of the Android. So that
making some modifications in it, the option to login using accounts
could be added. But the directory structure of Android source code is
really difficult to understand. So if someone could help me how to
study the source code. It would be a great help for me. Waiting for an
