Hi,

Has anybody had any success overriding the default Android Hebrew font with something nicer?  I have had a report that Ezra SIL does not work.

Thanks
Martin

Hi...I have a Android version 4.1.1. You can't reassign Jewish fonts, all Jewish words are bound to the system font DroidSans_HebrewRegular ... so I replaced the system font to its Jewish ... I reading in the Hebrew language so for me it is important to correct display Hebrew characters, so I began sorting through the Jewish fonts and several of their place in the system and see how AndBible it works ... many fonts incorrectly display Jewish symbols in modules, particularly on the WLC ... I stopped at the font of  Shlomo, everything displays correctly. Font attached...

Hi Emet

I have been trying to get a decent Hebrew font on my HTC One. This font looks good. How did you get AndBible to display it? Are you rooted? Did you replaced the Android system font?

Thanks

Graham

problem with hebrew fonts has been discussed here

bit again ...

There are two ways to assign fonts to modules ...

1) through the file fonts.properties ... If you do not have it, then it can find the path /sdcard/Android/data/net.bible.android.activity/files/FONTS....skopiruyte it in your modules folder with the path sdcard/jsword/FONTS .. . remove from it all and prescribe it as fonts,e.g. module called "Hebrew"

HEBREW=ShlomoB.ttf

ShlomoB.ttf font itself should be in the same folder sdcard/jsword/FONTS

so you can assign fonts for any of your module...

but, if you have Android version 4.1.1, then in fonts.properties file can not be assign fonts, the system will fail ... in general, try, if not, then you need to replace the system font on your ...

2) change the system font ... system should be the rights of ROOT ... for example, Android 4.1.1... need to replace a font called DroidSansHebrew-Regular.ttf... then you have to change the rights for your font, which should be copied to the system folder system/fonts... If you do not change the rights, then no program will not see it... as the right to appoint, look in the other system fonts... You can change the rights of some file manager... after this manner in the file fonts.properties do not need to add anything, all programs will be reading Jewish symbols from this particular font...

Hi Emet

Thanks for your reply. I have tried method one but it did not work for my Hebrew modules. It did work for Greek though.

I have not rooted my device so cannot try method 2.

Looks like I'm stuck with the horrible Android Hebrew font for the time being!

Thanks

Graham

need to overcome their fear and get right "ROOT" (if the device is no longer under warranty)... I too was afraid of "ROOT", and now with a nice Jewish characters, and constantly confronted with the benefits of "ROOT"...

by the way, in the presence "ROOT", change system fonts good program from the package "ROMToolbox"...

I have rooted my other Android devices. Unfortunately on my latest device the bootloader is locked and there is currently no way to get root.
