We just got back from Frank Caliendo's show at the Monte Carlo. Highly
recommended and I believe his show will be a hit here in Vegas.

Pleasantly surprised to see former Pickadillo Jon Celentano onstage
playing bass and singing. I had a chance to speak with him after the
show and Jon is not only playing in the show but is in fact the musical
director.

Jon says the show is in its third week, playing four nights a week.
Lance Burton is now doing only one show a night. Vegas and Caliendo are a
great fit and I do highly recommend this show.

I stayed at the Monte Carlo for part of my stay last week and they are
heavily promoting his show to the folks stayin' at the hotel with
video bits of his show playin' on all the elevators as they go up and
down....

It was one of the most enjoyable shows I've seen here. It's a glorified
version of his stand up act with video projections of the current theme
in the background and a live 4 piece band. 90 minutes and he didn't miss
a beat. The closer is A Little Help From My Friends by the Beatles with
Jon from the band yelling out the character names and Frank doing the
voices. Jon was obviously working from a list so it wasn't completely
improvisational, but the bit worked really well for the closer.

I'm now sorry I missed it SHK! I really like a LIVE band backin' up a
performer. I thought one of the main reasons Danny Gans was as
successful as he was at the Mirage was the live band he had. Otherwise
he would've been just another good impersonator and not worth the
$100 ticket.

I'll admit I'd never heard of Caliendo ... but I've picked up passengers
from his show on several occasions -- and they all loved him.

(I think they are giving freebies to cabbies this month. Maybe I'll go
check him out.)

Watch the Fox pregame Sundays at 9am. He always does about a 2-3 minute bit
within the show, usually in the last half hour. Part of the bit is to pick
5 winners every week. He's pretty funny every week and his picks aren't bad
either.
