I looked on Harry Shearer's webpage for his e-mail and then looked
at the return address for the some of the proposed letters that he wrote
in this forum and they matched up. I'm just exstatic that such a big
member of the show actually reads this newsgroup.
If this is infact Harry Shearer, I have one question for you that has
been eluding me a long time, did they kill off the character Doctor
Marvin Monroe because it was so hard to do that obnoxious voice many
times over, or was it just a whim of one of the writers to see him go
ka-put. I thought Marvin was a great character, and he should have been
a more recurring character on the show because he added a certain
psychological aspect that can't be found in the newer episodes because
he's no longer living. I felt the death of Bleeding Gums Murphy was very
effective, because an entire episode centered around his death. But as
for the death of Marvin Monroe, it defies any logic to just kill off a
character and not give any notice to his absence. They could have at
least told us *how* he died...

Sincerely,

Paul Canniff

Yes, it's me, and I'm in love again. Sorry, I channeled Fats for a
moment. Couldn't agree more about the late good doctor. If it came as a
shock to you, imagine how I felt. Sure, the voice was a bitch, but you
know at least flowers, a card, something...

I think it's great that you're here Harry, I've been a big fan of yours for
years, from Spinal Tap through the Simpsons. I even went to a taping of
Politically Incorrect once that you were on (they taped two shows that night,
maybe you remember, Eugene McCarthy was on one, you were on both). So, let me
extend a warm welcome, and a large thanks to you for all the laughs you've
given me over the years.

Just one note though: While I would agree that within the context of how much
revenue the Simpsons brings in that you are all grossly underpaid, I find it
somewhat disconcerting that you would ask your fans, most of whom probably
struggle on a daily basis to survive in this dog-eat-dog world, to advocate on
behalf of you. I don't want to criticize you here, but I am curious as to how
you rationalize that. It seems to me that it would be kind of like Michael
Jordan asking his fans to demand of the Bulls that he be paid more.

In Dr. Monroe's name, a deep, cleansing breath has been taken!

[SNIP!]

THIS is why the production people typically don't come here.

I have been talikng to Jake Lennington, who has been talking to this person,
and it does indeed appear that he is THE Harry Shearer.

No fair stalking, though.
