Hey you guys!

My server is smokin the big bong so I have to post from google. Makes
it hard to participate in this current war.....maybe that's a good
thing.

I see that Tea has posted some of our nonrules for unrulie newbies.
Thanks Tea. The only rule we really have here is no jokin and that's
a joke. So this JN person must be jokin.

This JN person says she'll outlast me. hehehehehe. I love a good
joker.
She needs to work on her google skills. She knows not who I am.

She was expected company.
The kind you don't clean your house for and don't offer anything to
drink.

This JN person needs to go back to her other group now where she knows
who she's dealing with.

I love the way we all come together when we need to.
You guys are the best.
We wear our colors proudly.

Happy Spring!

What a pain. I hate having to post from Google because the posts take
something like 3 hours to show up. That's ok if you only post once a
day, but if you are used to popping into the newsgroup everytime you
take a break from household chores on the weekend, it is a nuisance.

BTW, on the subject of computer meltdowns...I'll share this with you
all. Last week, on Monday afternoon, ALL of my email at work
spontaneously disappeared while I was out of the office. Our work email
is not downloaded to our individual computers, but is stored on a mail
server somewhere. Every single message disappeared from Outlook: inbox,
sent mail, deleted mail, and worst of all 3 years of mail that I had
filed and stored. Our MIS department has no clue how it happened, why,
or what can be done to prevent it from happening again. (There is no
evidence of any viruses/worms at work.)

The real irony was that I was out of my office at a conference about
technology and how it is changing the way we live and teach! I could've
happily gone to my grave without ever experiencing this particular
little technological event!

Spring, ha! The calendar may say "spring," but the thermometer on my
back porch says, "summer, and it's hotter than hell!" We're hitting
nearly to 100 degrees this past week with more expected! Happy March 21!

Everything is Microsoft of course, and the only Macintosh in the whole
place is the one they use to to all the graphics and create brochures
and stuff. I often tease the graphics designer that I'm going to steal
her computer one of these days!

AND...since it is government, you can assume that everything probably
was provided by the lowest bidder! :-(

We had a virus get into the system a couple months ago that "ate"
everything on the server. Everyone had to close down their email so
they could disinfect everything and then it took hours to rebuild what
had been stored on the server from the nightly backups. I had THOUGHT
they did nightly backups on the email too, but was rather dismayed to
find out (the hard way) that they don't.

I didn't want to let my *bias* show, and ask if it was MS. ;) Naturally, I
am not surprised.

That's awful...

I just don't understand why businesses and government haven't gotten fed up
with the lack of security in MS programming. I can understand why people
who don't know much about computers, accept that they have to live with it,
IF they haven't tried better software. Microsoft's major clients though,
could get something done about it, by switching to Linux or Mac wherever
possible. MS understands declining sales $$$. Maybe someday....

Actually, I've had thoughts that it was an outside hacker. That
technology conference I mentioned was at Arizona State University. I
used one of their computers to check my email via browser earlier in the
day, the day my mail disappeared. I wondered if maybe someone had put a
trojan horse or worm or something on that ASU computer that copied my
username and password and then he/they went back in and deleted
everything.

That doesn't seem likely though, because they'd have had to take the
time to empty folder within folder plus sent mail and deleted mail. If
they were going for trouble making, I'd see them just going in and
deleting the entire folders.

I dunno. No one seems to have any idea, but I'm sure sharing my
experience with everyone I work with as a warning.

Oh, geeze, we took hubby's convertible to run some errands today and
about roasted our a**es off! It is NOT supposed to be this hot this
early, and we are all scared to death that if it is 100 in March, it
might be 110 in April, 120 in May, and Lord only knows what in June and
July before the monsoon hits and high humidity pulls temps back down to
the 100-110 range. We are about to turn the cooler on!

Is it possible you left your email up on your computer and some
nasty person came in after you and deleted everything? I've seen
that happen where I used to work.

Nope. My computer was shut down when I left Friday, besides it
automatically goes into password protected mode after ten minutes in
case you forget to log off/shut down. And I'd completely shut the
browser on the computer I used out at the university.

Pink good. Lime bad.

I think brunettes look great in magenta and teal....in fact I think brunettes
look great in most colors. I think blonds have to be more careful lest they

Besides, you never change gang colors! Ours have been magenta and teal
for a couple years now. They aren't picked for the fashion
statement...they're picked to be unique!

What? You can't be fashionable and unique at the same time? :)

We could have winter and spring colors....

Or I can just be contrary...
(that would be a switch, huh?)

YOU???? Contrary?
I like your color choices, but I'm not sure how I'd look in them. They sound
tropical and I like that, but I'm not sure how I look in lime green. The
pink is cool by me and I'll give the lime a try if you all want a change of
pace.

Oh. Okay.

BTW, do you remember the book "The Preppy Handbook"? It was popular in
the early 80's--and the preppy colors are pink and green. To me, that
combo remonds me of a Talbot's catalogue (which I think was the point
in the book).

Or.....Florida. ( We're more into hearty colors here in the frozen
tundra.)

There was a woman dressed in pink and lime green on "Vegas" last night.
She was a pick pocket. I laughed when I saw her. I'm making my first
ever trip to Vegas next month. Do I need to take some pink and lime
green clothes along?

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! ACK! Believe it or not, I was a liberal in those days. The

queasy....kind of like Brook's Brothers women's section. Gak.

Of course, to answer that question (if one WAS interested in the answer
before going to Vegas!) one would have to follow that up with "this
year." Practically everything I was told about what went with what as a
child has since been negated in one decade or the other by "fashion
designers" who suddenly claimed that what was not acceptable last year,
is the hottest new trend this year!

Does anybody else remember being told not to mix patterns like stripes
and plaids and patterns, or that pink didn't go with red or orange? And
of course, when you're talking about hemlines, that's a constantly
moving target!

I like practically any hemline...depends on who is wearing it and the style of
the skirt but I am glad there is more "freedom" when it comes to hemlines.

I still can't mix plaids and stripes. I see it done and it still looks gross
to me. But then I rarely ever wear patterns, stripes or plaids of any kind.

Since it was a satire, that's a good use.

The one other thing I've always remembered is that preppies think
sarcasism is the same thing as humor.

Although a public school person, I grew up amongst preppiehood and
that book was dead on and really funny.

Redheads look fabulous in like an Emerald Green.. or a really pretty aqua blue
or something. Not just any redhead can pull off a deep red or a pink. That is
supposed to be a fashion no-no. But then.. i dont know much about fashion. Just
going on what i have heard in the past. And emerald green is really a great
color. I look best in greens- but i have dark hair. Anything black makes me
look too dark IMO.

Your Shannon is only a couple months younger than the little one I babysit
for now. She's so adorable and tries so hard to mimmick everything we do.
She claps and says "yeah" and says 'da da da' all day long...much to her
daddy's joy and her mother's dismay. It's fun to have a baby in the house

I can't believe how much your kids have grown! It's seems like yesterday

every minute of it.
