WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?
Sunday, January 9, 2000

Well, previously on Millionaire, 58 contestants have appeared on the show and
taken home a total of $5,179,000. One millionaire, one half-a-millionaire, and
five quarter-millionaires out there.

Also, three more game shows have gone on the air offering big money. So far,
they've had some modest success.

Can they be as successful as the show that started it all? We shall see, as
ten contestants meet in New York to find out, just exactly...

WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?

Well, we're just about to find out as we find out who's got the FASTEST FINGER
FIRST:

Place these TV Characters from "Cheers" from when they were introduced,
starting with the first:

A. "Woody" Boyd
B. Rebecca Howe
C. Dr. Frasier Crane
D. Sam Malone

Correct Answer: D-C-A-B
Winner and time: Jim Meyer, from Columbia, MO, in 4.28 seconds! Jim's single,
he's 6'6", and he's going back to college.

Well, it's time to dive into the questions for this January series.... so,
here we go!

For $100:
According to the nursery rhyme, what was Little Miss Muffet eating?
He says "curds & whey" for $100.

When starting a race, what comes between "on your mark" and "go"?
He says "get set" not "giddy-up" or "start praying" for $200.

For $300:
What traditional Thanksgiving dish is also the name of a country?
He says "Turkey" not "Robin" for $300.

For $500:

giant ape fall?
He says Empire State Building for $500.

For a guaranteed $1000:
How many goals must a hockey player score in one game to get a "hat trick"?
He says 3 for $1000.

Regis means "of the kings". So call Regis "king."

After the break, we get right into the $2000 question, which reads as follows:

The period known as "The Red Scare" referred directly to Americans' fear of
what group?
He says Communists with confidence, and he has $2000.

For $4000:
In which desert wouldyou find the Great Sphinx?
A. Kalahari B. Mohave C. Gobi D. Sahara

His 50/50 leaves:

C. Gobi D. Sahara

He will choose "Sahara", cause the Sphinx is in Egypt, and the Sahara is a big
desert up in northern Africa. He goes with it...

... and ...

He's right! He has $4000.

For $8000:
Which of the following was a home of the legendary Kublai Khan?

jurisdiction?
A. US Navy B. Merchant Marine

team. She gives the answer "Dept of Treasury" just as time expires.

obvious...

So, he goes with Vicky...

And Vicky zigged when she should have zagged - cause it's the US Department of
