In the Animaniacs theme parody on the first episode, during the part
where you are introduced to all the characters you are shown a girl
called FREAKAZETTE (in a "lovely shade of blue") What's the story behind
this character? Why did she never show up? I've always thought it was
Steph's superhero alter ego. What are your thoughts?

There was also a character with a big eye they mentioned. What's with him?

My understanding is that "Eye of Newt" got scrubbed as a character, though
he can be seen in the Huntsman intro (in the paddy wagon).

I'd heard (from Hub City, I think) that they had planned for
Freakazette to be a character on the show, but it was cancelled before
they had the chance.

Steph is a possibility, but I'd rather think not. I have any number of
theories about Freakazette (including her origins) but never did
anything with it in the hopes the show would come back.

Freakazette seems so "real" -- she's one of the greatest characters
that never actually made it onto the screen ;)

I hope she's not Steph...I don't think she has the intellect for the job.

It can't be Steph, whether she has the intellect or not, she's kind of the
voice of reason to F!, like Arthur to the Tick. Also a "normal" character to
contrast F! and Cosgrove, so she has to remain the same.

Folks,

Why was there never a Freakazette episode, save for that first
episode clip? Well, it just turned out that nobody really knew what to do
with the character...and you're talking about some real heavy-hitters on
that staff, who all wound up throwing up their hands over poor 'Zette.

So, foolishly, Jenn Moore and I thought we'd try writing a story for her.
Y'see, we'd had a few years writing experience on a radio show, which
was at that point getting ready to break up, so we actually thought we'd
get somewhere with the story.

Well, strangely enough, we did. Believe me, it helped that Paul
Rugg was answering his phone that day. Alas, the show was cancelled
before anything could be done with our script. It looked like it might
appear in season two, but it was late in the production process, the script
needed work because we really weren't pros yet, and then the series
order got cut back to 11 episodes, which wasn't a good sign. That's what
probably engendered the fairly regular cancellation gags in the second
season.

At any rate, we cast Steff as Freakazette, after having been sucked
through Dexter's computer in the expected fashion. In hindsight,
bringing in a new alter-ego character might have been the way to go. Or
*a* way to go, at any rate.

As for Jenn Moore and I, we managed to pique the interest of the folks
who make the Animaniacs and Looney Tunes comics, and have managed
to turn out some pretty fun stories there (and yes, it was due to our
incessant whining that we got to write the Freakazoid crossover story.)

But yes, for us, it all started with the Blue Gal. And now you know...the
rest of the story. Good day.

Oooo. Er, heh! *blushes and wipes egg from her face* Well, that just went
and blew a nice big hole in my attempt at giving 'Zette a back story.
Well, I gave her a makeover too, since I didn't know there was already a
Freakazette until I got online and discovered her. By that time I'd
already become attatched to my design and kept it. I'm sure you care.
Anyway, it's far from done, but I can't wait anymore. Here's the address
to my (really small) Freakazoid (sort of) page.

http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Bungalow/1014/

It's different from the other pages out there, but I couldn't think of
anything original to do along the same lines as the rest. So I went my own
way. Sue me. Not really. Please. I'll shut up now.

Let me be the first to tell you the villan was Eye of Newt. He never
appeared in any episode other than the A! spoof and the Huntsman theme
song

Freakazette was one of several characters that were created *as ideas* but
never developed as actual characters to be used in the show. (Another one is
Eye of Newt, who is in the same show and also is seen in the Hunstman closing
song.)

I sure wouldn't want Steff as a superhero. She's so incredibly shallow.
