When I attach the Nuvi 660 to the computer via the USB cable, the system
shows two additional drives. One is clearly the Nuvi, but the other just
says the drive cannot be opened. Any ideas?

I just took this thing out of the box yesterday, so don't know if I boofed
something up while exploring the options and directories. Reseting it (both
by the rear reset button and by holding the bottom right corner at startup)
has not changed the behavior.

It'll get its first workout on a trip to Atlanta this week, but so far
haven't found anything worth recommending it over my old StreetPilot III.
The Navtec maps are still 15 years old in areas I'm familiar with; and
hence, auto-routing is inacurrate.

It is the SD card slot. Put an SD card in and load it with MP3s if
you want.

The other drive is the sd slot. Put an sd card in the slot, and you will
be able to open it.

Is there a SD card in the socket? Normally one drive is the main memory
on the 660 and the second drive is the SD card.

Thanks to those pointing out it's the SD slot. I feel a, "Duh!" coming on.

As for my prior comment about not yet seeing anything to recommend the Nuvi
that isn't already in my StreetPilot III, the trip to Atlanta hasn't done
anything yet to sway me. I do like the touch screen, but there's less
control over how much detail is shown at a user-specified magnification
level. For example, if I want RR tracks to display at the 5mile
magnification level on the SP III, it's easy. On the Nuvi, it's not
possible.

That said, I guess I'm really waiting for a GPS that communicates area road
speeds with other GPS's in the area so it is not dependent on whether
someone offers coverage for an area, has weather radar overlay, fuel prices,
and updates its own maps using data collected from other GPSs resulting in
more accurate routing.

You just can't please some people...!
