Apart from the fact that this is her business, and apart from the
extraordinary lack of ethics from the supposed person "leaking" this 'story'
... The rest is simply gossip.
Dear Catlist... You didn't want to question the ethics of the person leaking
confidential information?
When I read a statement from Patti, then I will feel there is something of
substance here.

If Patti isn't actively involved in eckankar (and it appears she is not) it
isn't likely she would stay in it, given what I knew of her.
She was very close to Twitchell and, along with Helen Baird and a few
others, was responsible for launching eckankar.
Did she leave because she wasn't in sync with Klemp? My take is that no
other master could take the place of Twitchell since she was so involved
with him. My hunch is that she was bright and probably couldn't take the
party line and her subservience to it any more.

And when we hear from Jim Peebles that he's really still an Eckist,
we'll put you somewhere above your current ethical catagory. Or at
least on the chart.

The last I ever heard of Patti Simson-Ravinas, is the time a friend showed me a
form letter she had sent to him. It had been sent out to many eckists. The
letter offered to sell her maple syrup produced from her maple grove in
Vermont. Included with the offering was a newsletter (for a fee, of course)
written by Patty which would inform her syrup buyers of Patti's
oh-so-fascinating life on the grove. Call it rumor, but I saw the letter
myself.
While my 6th initiate friend was flattered by the offer, I found it quite
revealing of Patty. I had the distinct impression she was no longer with the
flock, or would soon be leaving. I can see why she might keep quiet. She has,
perhaps, a lot to gain by remaining silent.
In any case, to my knowledge she hasn't shown up to eckankar events for several
years now.
-Leaf
She is still in touch with Eckists, whatever that means.
She was in touch with at least one Eckist that knew how to contact her
about Helen Baird's translation a couple of years ago. She also wrote
to another Eckist that I know of at that time.

Well Joe... As I have repeatedly said to you, David Lane said he was going to
follow that up. It appears he has spoken to Jim, but it appears he is
unwilling to post Jim's response.
Why? I have no idea. Maybe you better go ask him.
That dog with the bone habit of yours will be useful for something, somewhere,

The subject was the unethical disclosure and the unsubstantiated comment made
in regards whether a leading member of Eckankar had left the teaching. If you
seem to be able to find that connected with your current bias, that's fine.
For me it is rather more simple... Someone's private business is their own. As
for the existence of Eckankar... We all know Paul formed this teaching in or
around 1964-65.
For the record, I have seen symbols strikingly similar to the EK symbol Paul
used that came from the Pre-Dynastic period of Ancient Egypt. If that means
anything to you, Then I am happy. If not, I remain happy <G>

By the way Tom... oh expert on Patti Simson.... how old is the lady
nowdays? Any idea? How's her health? Have you heard from her recently?
Oh wait... the letter wasn't to you in the first place, was it? That's
right... you stand on the sidelines and make things up about people you
don't even know! Gee.... why am I not surprised. <sigh>
Rich, you're an eckankar HI, and you've no problem calling people who
post to this newsgroup.
Can't you take the time to call another HI (Patty Simpson) to get her
side of the story?
At this time Patti is eager to sweeten the mouths with the truth of
the tree.
If you would like to contact Patti, you can check out Heavenly Syrup.

Apples and oranges, isn't it?
Why I suppose you think that it *is* ethical to gossip about people you

I think it is time for you wee one, to contemplate the love more
frequently and leave the nastiness alone for awhile. You are not
helping my case at all, or Eckankar for that matter. Possible
newcomers have been sending e-mails to our office with offensive
reports of several Eckist's posts on this NG.
And since it appears that your expertise lies in the area of lowly
attacks, I am reccomending a full soul cleaning.

Maybe she still is an eckist. This was posted to a message board
sometime between 1997 and 2000:
FROM: PATTI SIMPSON RIVINUS, JUNE 6th:
EMAIL: riv...@sover.net
I recently attended a workshop led by James Twyman who wrote the book
"Emissary of Light."
I told the group what had happened to Ram Dass and they did a
beautiful HU chant dedicated to
him. Jimmy Twyman said, "A great teacher is a beam of light of God
shining through the open
door to eternity. That is how I see him and always will.
Incidently, I'd like to pass on info I received from Omega this
morning. Although Ram Dass
cannot make his scheduled Omega retreat July 28 to August 3 it will
go, hosted by Jai Lakshman
and many great teachers will co-lead. All the teachers are donating
their time and Omega is
donating the net proceeds to a fund that will help in Ram Dass' care
and recovery.
If interested you can call Omega at 910-266-4444.

Like tonal therapy? I'm not sure that's legal in the States...
But yes, I hope it's quite helpful to keep pointing out to others here
how you've conducted yourself here. It puts your remarks about the
integrity of others in context.
Micheal, you're the one who came to this newsgroup with a story about
Jim Peebles "still an Eckist" and disaffected with Lane's research.
This was *your* story Michael, which your never backed up.
But let's settle this subject, shall we:
Michael, email David Lane and ask him if Jim Peebles is still an
Eckist.
Obviously this subject came up in their telephone conversation.
I believe when reporting this converstation, Lane stated that Peebles
definitely wasn't an Eckist (as if that needed stating to anyone
besides yourself).
But I could be wrong about that.
So send the email Michael, we'll see.
Jim Peebles wrote to me a few months back.
He lives in Orange County and he is NOT an Eckist.
Did Peebles e-mail Michael?
(It seems as though "20 questions" is the only way to get to the real facts
with David Lane).
"Did Peebles email Michael?" lol...
How's Reb doing?
Patti is fine and tired of responding to silly rumors.
One big clue to the clueless: Patti's two books are still in print and
sold in ECK Centers.

Really proof Michael? Why isn't this just another unsubstantiated
rumor? I guess it is not because it looks good to you. Big assumption
here on Alexander's part is that ECKANKAR would cease to sell
Simpson's books if her membership expired. Probably not true, as long
as Simpson kept quiet and didn't raise any ruckus.

But, most would say that Rock and Roll is not exactly a healing music, unless
your healing involved dance, of course <G>
What I have found is that it is more to do with Harmonic Structures that knit
energy, or at times disperse it... Rock and Roll is good for breaking things
up, harmonically speaking, so I personally find it is a matter of time and
place and what's appropriate.

DOUG RESPONDS:
I know it's not always easy to keep track of who is posting what sometimes, but
that was Joe's sarcastic remark about "proof", not a comment from Michael.
Thanks Doug...
The really big clue was the "Joe Wrote" above the comment <G>
But, hey... It's a.r.e. ... we expect things to go wrong occasionally. But I
must say, the way some posts reflect the preset of thew writer is a perfect
example of how we tend to see what we expect... Not necessarily what is really
there.
