Eckankar might have trademarked the word ECKANKAR in 1968. However,
the word Ekankar appears to have existed many years previous to that.
Defined similarly in some places even though the spelling was
different.
Johnson says: "Ekankar means the 'one oneness', the body of oneness."
Rebazar says: "ECKANKAR means the one oneness, the body of oneness."

Funny thing is, a lot of these "other teachings" are run by people who once studied and belonged to Eckankar. Either that, or they followed a master who once was an Eck Master and leader of Eckankar.
Let's see now ... How very different can the other paths be? Umm ... different in the words and particular spellings of words used to convey universal spiritual truths about the one and the same Spirit, or Essence of God? Hmm ... but didn't Paul Twitchell (the modern day founder of Eckankar) do something very similar?
Or maybe "very different" simply means there can be only one "King of the Hill"? Sort of like how Christianity has Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God, whatever.
IMO it's a gigantic red flag to see gurus and Godmen with followers claiming theirs as the real deal. Surely there must be room for more than one?
It sure the Hell looks that way to me.
