When Paul Twitchell mentioned the lineage
for "Eck Masters" in The Spiritual Notebook,
he mentioned many different people. Even in
the Eckankar Dictionary (the early one) there
were a number of individuals known to history
identified as vehicles for the what was called
"Mahanta Consciousness".
However, the term ECK, among others, has
become a trademarked term, by Eckankar.
Considering many persons listed as "Eck
Masters" - in the writings of Eckankar - I think
the term spiritual travelers is more appropriate
in some cases. Especially since the teachings
of Eckankar, reportedly, weren't always known
under the name of Eckankar.
Marpa The Translator, Milarepa's Master,
may very well have been a "spiritual traveler"
according to contemporary history.
I think this is what Paul Twitchell had the
intention of pointing out, when he listed the
various "Eck Masters". I think he wanted to
point out that they were "spiritual travelers",
at least.
Whether or not the writings of Paul T. or
Darwin Gross ever mentioned Marpa as an
"Eck Master" I don't know.
History doesn't appear to identify him by
that Eckankar trademarked term.

Unless, of course, the current leader for
Eckankar updated the teachings and made
Marpa an "Eck Master".
I haven't found my June 2005 Mystic World
yet. Strangely, issue appears to be missing.
