I don't understand why atheists would want to hang around in a Christian
newsgroup when they obviously don't want to hear anything logical that
these Believers have to say about the Truth. Ignore these heretics!
There is clearly an ulterior motive we are overlooking. We are wasting
our time defending the truth against people who have their ears and eyes
closed to what is obvious. They love the darkness rather than the light.
They are lovers of self. According to scripture, there is a such thing
as a foolish challenge. Wasting keystrokes on these individuals are
foolish challenges.

These lost souls are obviously puppets of the enemy trying to thwart the
Truth, not learn it. Their demise will be at their own discretion
because there are enough credible topics and posts in this group from
this week alone that are all the proof ANYONE being true to themselves
would need to be saved!

Shake the dust of those pointless conversations with obviously
comfortable atheists from our feet and concentrate our efforts on the
lost that WANT to be found. The harvest is plenty but the workers are
few.

I rebuke you Satan in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.

I don't understand why Christians would want to hand around in an anti-
Christian news group, such as alt.bible, the greatest compilation of anti-
Christian writings ever.

If you hate something enough, then you will do your utmost to find them and
hurl any form or kind of abuse at those you despise, hate, curse etc.

They usually reply with one liners (if that) with an added expletive
thinking people will take notice if that add one or two. Also they get off
doing it, hell knows why (literally).

It would be nice if they gave a proper response and / or argument to the
contrary, otherwise like you, I wish they would fuck off and die (thought i'd
add my own attention grabbing expletive there).

So, expect more of it from the scumsuckers, they have nothing better to do
anyway, they are the real trolls of the newsnet, mostly I just laugh at them
and wonder who is currently using the family brain cell at that moment.

One reason might be that a great many secular forums are placed on copy
by authors posting here, then replied to.

A second reason might be that there are those of us who realize that
dialog is needed if people of many faiths and non-believers are to
coexist in a democracy, and wish to engage you iun conversation.

A third reason is that there are a few who might actually be interested
in you forum. It does not help when they are hell-blasted out of here,
with rather portentious millstones around their necks. Your posts are
public and represent the fruit/light/saltiness by which Christians are
characterized among others. You may wish to reflect on that.

This is what Paul said

Acts 20:30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the
truth in order to draw away disciples after them.
Acts 20:31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never
stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.

Paul thought the false teachers were a big concern, not the Atheists.

No evidence that he was actually dead when taken down from the cross. Was
there a doctor present? The gospels were written 100 years after his death.
It's a bit like you writing your account of the Napoleonic wars. And where
is Jesus now? You're worshipping a man who while don't even know what he

LOL. I have not seen such reference in the bible (but I have enclosed a
fair few other quotes that describe a heaven and earth concept). And if
this was the case the the bible got it wrong - the earth orbits around a
single star - not "suspended in the stars".

My quotes follow: (please try and understand that these references have no
resemblence to modern scientific discoveries !!!). Your belief is utter
garbage. I suggest you re-read your bible and realise this.
Genesis 1:1 "At the first God made the heaven and the earth."

Genesis 1:15 "And let them be for lights in the arch of heaven to give
light on the earth: and it was so".

Genesis 1:17 "And God put them in the arch of heaven, to give light on the
earth;"

Genesis 1:20

"And God said, Let the waters be full of living things, and let birds be in
flight over the earth under the arch of heaven."

Genesis 2:1 "And the heaven and the earth and all things in them were
complete."

Genesis 2:4 "These are the generations of the heaven and the earth when
they were made."

Genesis 2:5 "In the day when the Lord God made earth and heaven there were
no plants of the field on the earth, and no grass had come up: for the Lord
God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no man to do work on the
land."

Genesis 7:19 "And the waters overcame everything on the earth; and all the
mountains under heaven were covered."

Genesis 11:4 "And they said, Come, let us make a town, and a tower whose
top will go up as high as heaven; and let us make a great name for
ourselves, so that we may not be wanderers over the face of the earth."

Genesis 14:19 "And blessing him, said, May the blessing of the Most High
God, maker of heaven and earth, be on Abram:"

Genesis 14:22 "But Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have taken an oath to
the Lord, the Most High God, maker of heaven and earth,"

Genesis 24:3 "And take an oath by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God
of the earth, that you will not get a wife for my son Isaac from the
daughters of the Canaanites among whom I am living;"

Genesis 26:4 "I will make your seed like the stars of heaven in number, and
will give them all these lands, and your seed will be a blessing to all the
nations of the earth;"

Genesis 27:28 "May God give you the dew of heaven, and the good things of
the earth, and grain and wine in full measure:"

Your first sentence is a good example of classic Christian circular logic.
People reject him "because" they can't hear, see or touch him ... not
because they "choose" to reject him. Think about that !!

his physical death provides for all his believers

Ok then. Come and leave. I get posts like that all the time and don't go
hang around in those groups and try to overthrow the very essence of
those groups (ok maybe a couple wicked ones, like racist groups). I say
what I have to say, if anything, and be gone. These guys are making it a
priority to throw off the works of the Lord and instill doubt in
everyone's mind. The people who pay eternally are the people who are
TRYING to learn the Truth and be saved. It doesn't work on those of us
who are born again. Satan is the author of confusion and is confusing
people away from salvation. It should not be tolerated and the Devil
must be rebuked.

We don't care about coexisting in a democracy, we care about the Truth.
We don't even care about coexisting in our own families. Jesus made that
clear that even our own flesh and blood will be divided over the Truth.
We go to Heaven or Hell as individuals. Family has far more importance
than a country and if that shouldn't matter, then neither should
anything else. The Truth should be all that matters and we should have
zero-tolerance for anything in opposition. Only the Truth will set you
free. This very same democracy you speak of was founded and built on the
very same Christian principles we speak of. It is in everything they did
even the Constitution and currency. Our founding fathers would have
never dreamed that America would be the religious cesspool that it is
today. Amazingly our straying from the mindset of the founding fathers
has made it possible for Atheists and other religions to change the very
documents that they fought to be able to create that make up what
America was and is supposed to be. America is supposed to be a Christian
nation, period. It is obvious. And if people don't like it, simply go to
another country. Nobody is forcing anybody to be here.

A true Believer moves in the way of our Lord. He did not waste time on
people who are obviously here for sinister purposes. Those who are
really interested in the newsgroup will have a completely different tone
and psychological perspective in their messages. Those people are who we
should minister to, not the tauntings and temptations of Satan and his
camp.

I seriously doubt if anybody is here for sinister purposes. Some people
just have different views/beliefs to yourself. We live in a fantastic world
of super IT and Internet - for example: 400 hundred years ago, a person like
you may have lived in a small, secular village where every single person in
that village was a devout Christian. Throughout the course of that person's
life, they may never have been exposed to different
atheist/heretic/blasphemous beliefs. But now the world has changed and not
everybody believes what you believe - we like to debate, challenge, reason.
Great isn't it :-)

Christians have plenty to talk about. Like quoting verses from the bible at
each other (verses which prove the bible is the word of God i.e. using the
overwhelming evidence that if it's written in the bible it must be true).

Kristyuns are not so restrictive. They quote Bible verses to any/everybody.

The Bible is actually viewed as a legal document. The U.S. courts recognize
it
for birth, marriage and death records. So wonderful for us Kristyuns that
the death of Jesus is viewed as a matter of legal record.

Um, Columbus didn't sail around the world. He didn't even try.

Actually the sphericity of the Earth was not in question at the time.
Everyone knew it was a globe, but Columbus thought it might be smaller
than science predicted. He was wrong, of course, but luckily there
was land in the middle of the vast ocean between Spain and China.

>Isa 40:22 It is He who sits on the circle of the earth, and its people

Good thing Columbus didn't think this was true. A circle is flat.
(Isaiah could have said sphere, globe, or even ball, but he didn't)
He might not have sailed off the edge, though, if he hit the side of
that 'tent.' Note that a heavenly 'tent' does not cover a globe, but
would suffice as a sky dome for a flat circle of earth.

Okay, what's the science behind fire-breathing dragons? How about
cud-chewing rabbits? Four-legged insects? Earth standing still? The
sun going to bed at night? That's good science! BTW, bats are not
birds, whales are not fish, and goats can't evolve stripes by
copulating in the reeds, despite what your scientific Bible claims.

It is illogical to think that belief is the same as truth.

My motive is to get you to understand the difference between
superstition and truth. It's scary to have people killing others based
on ancient superstitions. It's just damn stupid, but you (plural) seem
to think that you'll attain immortality because of what you believe. The
Christians, the Muslims, all religion is based on ancient views of the
world. We know MORE than that now!

Yes, the Muslims believe the same thing. Just BELIEVE and you'll become
immortal in blissful heaven. Everyone else suffers the rest of eternity
in painful hell.

I was invited here, were you?

Part of the reason for being here is to watch you yell and scream at each
other about how right you are and how wrong they are.

It is very rare for one fundie to tell another one in AA that he is going to
hell because he does not believe the right thing. It's the norm here.

Finding out about your admitted mental illness is also of interest.

We also get to see how un-educated you are.

Most of you seem to base your belief on many things on what you last saw on
TV or some latest fad heath book.

If you look up my exchange with Jason you will find who gives the
one-liners.

He told me he would answer my questions with more than a reference to a few
lines from childish notes in a survey course.

When I persisted, he said he could not remember them. They were posted for
him.
He continued to say he could not remember,, then said he remembered being
asked but could not remember what, then denied they were ever asked.
His last two posts on the subject came about 20 minutes apart.
The first said he would answer, the second said I never asked them.

Then he left.

We are atheists and expect you to do more than quote the bible to prove the
bible, especially since few of you can agree on the meaning of a quote.

I can use the same technique to demonstrate the existence of Doc Savage
using Philip Jose Farmers excellent biography on the man.

We have nothing but respect for the people who treat the bible as a book and
don't let truth get in the way of what they want.
Most of mainstream religion and all the real theological schools in the
world do this.
They don't loose their faith.

If you want more than a one line discussion show you have the ability to
discuss.

What if muslims say the same thing? How far christians will go to
defend their faith? Are christians ready to question the basis of their
faith before engaging in a holy war? Are christians absolutely sure about
the bible and their interpretation of it? What makes christians so
sure about the "Truth" of the bible when it's the only thing they have to
back it up?

Maybe atheists have something to say about the "truth" also. This may not
be the absolute truth, but neither is the bible.

Because Atheists squirm at the sight of their contemporaries grovelling to
imaginary gods whilst making themselves look crassly stupid.

ALL religions were perpetrated thousands of years ago by primitives who
thought the gods lived just above the clouds. That there was also a heaven
up there and that below the ground were burning coals where all the bad
people were sent to when they died.

Only lunatics persist in following the banal teachings of people that
undserstood about two percent of what we understand today.

Actually Chris, the word used for circle was the Hebrew word for compass
and compass is ROUND (pick up a ball, is it round or circular?). And all
the history books say the common thought was the earth was flat and
everyone was afraid he would fall off the edge. Revising history to suit
your needs doesn't make it accurate. Revising History is a game the
unbeleivers play in order to attempt to shake our beliefs. What came
first Chris, the chicken or the egg? Are you familiar with the Causal
Arguments?

But wrong.

I recall that my Boy Scout compass was flat. Most compasses are. Of
course, magnetic compasses were not used then so the argument is baseless.
We are talking about the translation of the Hebrew noun "chuwg". It can be
translated as "compass" only if you recognize that "compass" is another word
for circle. The verb form of "chuwg" means "to encircle", "encompass".

And if Jesse really read history he would know that medieval physics was
based upon Aristotle, not the Bible. Aristotle knew that the earth was a
sphere.

Religious tolerance is an oxymoron. You are living proof of this.
Isn't there something in the Babble about reaping what you sow? Well,
it's harvest time.

I have already stated that you can live in peace when, and not until
you all renounce your blood soaked death cult and stop abusing the
word 'truth'. If atheists find anything the equivalent of blasphemy it
is people trying to pass belief off as knowledge. It is the moral
equivalent of selling snake oil.

Not really so simple, though we do prefer things to be black or white,
good or bad, et al. That's the "Either/Or" approach to life, which
makes for interminable conflict or for the spoils going to the victor.
The which applies to both religion and secular civilization. A far
better way is the "Both/And" approach, where the wisdom and benefits of
both are valued and respected.
