Anticipated dizum downtime

Ola,

I'll (try) to do some maintenance these comming 4 weeks on the dizum infrastructure.

As some of you might know, XS4ALL (my host/colo) has been absorbed by KPN (the incumbent Telco in NL). I've setup my own infrastructure now but I'll change colo for that at the end of May.

In order to migrate 'seamlessly I'll copy the newsserver (news.dizum.net) to that new infra (but in order to that it's VM's need to go down, so mail-2-news will not work for a certain duration). I'll try announce this here. Once copied, I'll restart news.dizum.net (old) and update/upgrade news.dizum.com (new, new location) I'll initially peer with myself, but will try to het news.dizum.com connected directly to usenet. Onec that has been done I'll change the dns for news.dizum.net to point to the new server. This might messup some of the article numbering'.

I'll also relocate and update dizum.com, but that is less of an issue (famous last words).

Hope to have everything running on autopilot, starting from June 1st again.

Cheers & happy Jezus Zombie day.

Will something be handling email? (Read: Will posts via the mail2news
gateway queue waiting on the news infrastructure to come back online?)
Or is that going to go down too?

Feel free to reach out to me if you want another Usenet peer.

I wonder if there will be any repercussions if article numbers change
while migrating from the old news server to the new news server. Or if
things will just work independent of article numbers. What in the
normal a.p.a-s flow cares, much less, uses article numbers? Article
numbers are usually important to readers than posters.

Will DNS nameservers be changing at all during this? TTLs can bite.

Cool!

Feel free to reach out if you want any (temporary) services.
