Eric G. Mohn Painter

Eric G. Mohn, 63, a quadriplegic artist who painted watercolors with a brush
held in his mouth, died November 25, 2008, from a pulmonary embolism at
Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, Pennsylvaniaa. He was a Thurmont,
Maryland, resident.

Mr. Mohn was paralyzed in a car accident in 1963 in Ocean City, Maryland. In
1966, he was one of the first students to use a wheelchair to attend
Montgomery, Maryland, College in Rockville, Maryland.

In the 1970s, he began to paint, entering his first major art show in 1979
and starting his career as a painter.

Eric George Mohn was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and moved to
Rockville a few years later.

He graduated from St. James School in Hagerstown, Maryland, in 1963 and in
1970 received a bachelor's degree in business administration from St.
Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

He lived in Rockville until 1991, when he moved to Gaithersburg. In 2006, he
moved to Thurmont and opened an art gallery.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Rita Ladd Mohn of Thurmont; his
father, Kermit Mohn of Rockville; one brother; four stepchildren, Shanna
Rhodes and Evan Ladd, both of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Melissa Ladd Guenther
of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and Brian Ladd of Phoenix; Arizona, and eight
grandchildren.
