New Time album due in 2004, according to Morris Day
Out here in the Bay Area,we have a magazine called The Wave. The current issue
(Volume 3,Issue 17) is devoted to the 80s and there is a telephone interview
with Morris Day.He reveals that The Time are getting ready to sign with
Hollywood Records and a new CD will be released in early 2004.Here is the
entire interview...
PAY DAY : Morris Day,everyone's favorite 80s faux-millionaire,checks himself
out in the mirror one more time...by David Farley
Morris Day wouldn't make a very subject for VH-1's Behind The Music.Though his
band,The Time,are on-again,off-again,and his short-lived solo career stumbled
as soon as it left the gate,Day didn't snort a gazillion dollars up his
nose, nor was he almost killed in a car accident after a night of
partying.Instead,he has quietly been retired to stud in the American
pop-culture stable.Constantly on tour,Day hasn't put out an album in over a
decade.The million-dollar swagger,the flashy suits,the blue-blood attitude are
all still there. So is his very own stage-side butler,Jerome
"bring-me-the-mirror" Benton. When we caught up with Day in Atlanta, where he now
lives,he was just about to hop on a plane to his former haunt,Minneapolis,to
play an afternoon set for the meat-loving crowd at this year's Rib Fest. Who
says slowly fading away isn't cool?
Wave: What time is it?
Morris: It's time to be cool ...

But what's up with this "article?" I thought Morris got into coke for a
little while in the eighties?
Oh, and I doubt Prince will be involved in any way with the new CD (that
will never come out).

He did. "Pop Life" referred to it I believe. Morris even talks about it now. In fact, he was into
it during Purple Rain and of course by the time the movie came out, The Time was disbanded, for many
reasons, but that was one of them.

I hope there are some Prince songs on there written for The Time. The group chose to call Prince
and ask him to be involved w/ Pandemonium. He basically told them to go and get what they wanted.
Hence "Chocolate" and couple of other trinkets on there.
Hell, anything they put out that's new of from them (writing) will be a gem. And I think it goes
w/o saying that Rhastus will be on top o' the world.

Same here. I've been feenin' for a new Time album ever since I saw them in
'96. There were rumors all the way back then that they were making a new
disc...

I don't know if the following two songs are (only) leftovers from
the "Old Dogs, New Tricks" sessions or if one or both on the card
for the new album, but Prince was in truth involved again a little.
"Ho-Parade"
Written by Torrell Ruffin (music) wit Morris Day (vocals)
The guitar-solo was usually performed as part of the instrumental
intro in most of THE TIME's 2002/2003 live shows. Like Rhastus
say: It kicks ass! My opinion: It REALLY kicks ass!! ;-))
"Pussy Games"
Written by Prince with Torrell Ruffin. Unfortunately no more
details except the title available, but according to various
members of THE TIME a real studio recording exist.

They both play guitar on this track
There is also a track called cow girl
Ronnie baker Brooks also plays on a track could be one of these or a different
song
Rhastus- "get a little alcohol in him and he turns back into Prince"
OK, fixed ;-)) Thnx

Rhastus, I think "Cowgirl" is the track. Larry Graham and Terry Lewis may play
on it as well.

>If Prince, Jimmy, and Terry are not involved its gonna be garbage
well if prince trys to write or produce like like the majority of his material
has been since 95, he can just stay away.
Jam and Lewis have never done anything with the Time except the few tracks on
Pandemonium anyway and the good tracks they did do on that album Jesse helped
them with. Now they could get them a hit, but would you rather have a hit or
something good
all three of them are definetly better song writers than Morris. his strong
point is definetly live performance. Prince just has to remember how to put it
on wax and jam and Lewis just have to not polish it up to much
