1) WHAT TIME IS IT? - To me, this album defines the Time. Very solid, very
funky, very catchy. The guys at thier best.
2) THE TIME - This was one hellava debut album. Unlike WTII, you can tell the
guys were feeling thier feet and getting used to each other, though the
chemistry is undeniable.
3) ICE CREAM CASTLE - You know, this has always been on of my VERY FAVORITE
time albums, even though it could be argued that the entire album is carried by
JUNGLE LOVE and THE BIRD with lots of filler - CLASSY filler, but fuller
nonetheless. I love this album. Maybe it's because of the memories it evokes.
4) PANDAMONIUM - This goes ahead of "Corperate world" just because there is so
much more material. With tracks such as "MY SUMMERTIME THANG", you can tell
that the magic is still there. But the album suffers from inconsistancy. The
previous TIME albums all sounded pretty much the same from beginning to end.
This one's all over the place: GREAT TUNES that don't fit together too well. Is
this the reason the album tanked? Or did the world change THAT MUCH in 6
years...?
5) CORPERATE WORLD - The TIME album that never was... This is one
hog-butcherin' album - supposedly recorded in 1989 (correct me if I'm wrong).
It is FAR less 'manic' than PANDEMONIUM - It maintains a CONSTANT mood
throughout, much like the first 3. Tunes like MURPH DRAG & SHAKE make it seem
as if the Time had never left. Magic... pure magic.
2. The Time- now this use to be #4, but has grown on me especially in the last
4 years or so. This one is alot rawer and sounds alot more like
Prince(obviously)
Cool is the obvious stand out. With the rest not far behind. I think what made
me appreciate this one more is seeing this material life especially Get it Up.
To be so Funky on the Album and so Heavy Life justs helps me dig it even more
3. Old Dogs New tricks- I'm still absorbing this one so it could go up or down.
It's obvious that there cover of Style they just replace prince's vocals with
Morris's. the two tracks Jam and lewis wrote don't do a think for me, but the
Jesse track rocks my ass off. Most of the album is a more like their live show
and I can see how why they are having problems getting it released to a broad
audience
4. Pandemonium- was easily # 2 till recently. This was like the ultimate when
it came out. Being a fan since 84 when they had basically broke up and just
waiting and waiting. The first Time I heard the full version of Jerk Out, I
just got shivers(I had no idea of the earlier versions of these songs at this
point), Pandemonium, Chocolate, Blondie and the Godly Skillet
The rest of the album is OK and brings down the steller tracks to some extent.
If it had been a 6 track album like the rest it would have challanged for #1
IMO
5. Ice Cream Castles- Was my #1 until I bought What Time is it but I stilled
played the shit out of these two forever. Jungle Love and the Bird were the
shit in 84 with the whole Purple Rain hype, but I'd have to save my favorite
track now would be My Drawers. Ice Cream Castles is average, Chili Sause is
funny the first million times you play it and If the Kid can't make you come is
well i don't know what, but it has some nice licks by Jesse
6. Corporate World- this looks more like a solo Morris day album to me, the
tracks are not up to the other prince written time songs. I dig Murph Drag but
the rest doesn't do much for me
Rhastus- Somebody bring me a Mirror
